SUGARCREEK — Daniel Thomas Lash, age 17, of 3992 Ragersville Road, was called home unexpectedly by the Lord, Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007. He was born March 2, 1990, the son of Steve and Cathy (Baron) Lash. Daniel was a senior at Garaway High School at Sugarcreek, where he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams. He was also a member of the Journalism Class and the Industrial Tech Club, with which he hiked part of the Appalachian Trail the past four years, which was one of his favorite activities. He was also an office aid at Garaway High School.Daniel was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, where he was baptized and confirmed. He was also a member of Young Life.In addition to his parents, Daniel is survived by two brothers and a sister, Andy and Caren both at home and Brian of Bowling Green; grandparents, Bob and Virginia Lash of Germantown and John and Elizabeth Baron of Fort Myers, Fla.; a very dear friend, Shawna Young, who lit up his world; aunts and uncles, Ginny (Jesse) Keeton, Eric (Lisa) Lash, Mike (Sherry) Baron, Bill Baron, Joan (Rob) Waddle, Mary (Jeff) Patzer, Patty Baron (Eric Parks) and John (Neza) Baron; several great-aunts and uncles; and many cousins and friends.A Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, 2007, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, with Msgr. George Schlegel, officiating. Burial will follow in Ragersville Cemetery in Ragersville. For those planning to attend, you may go directly to the church.Friends may call 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, in the former Sugarcreek Free Methodist Church, 531 Dover Road, Sugarcreek, where Christian Wake Services will be held at 8 p.m.SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 254 N. Broadway, Sugarcreek, is handling arrangements.In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Young Life, P.O. Box 490, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681 or Garaway High School Athletic Dept. Building Fund, c/o Daniel Lash fund, payable to the Garaway Athletic Boosters, 146 Dover Road NW, Sugarcreek, Ohio 44681.For those unable to attend, please visit the Funeral Home’s website at www.smithfuneral.com to share a memory and sign the guest book.
