Daniel LoRusso Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2025.
Daniel LoRusso, of Woodbury CT, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. He was the loving husband of Victoria (Lynn) LoRusso, his wife of 38 years.

Dan was born in Waterbury, Connecticut on August 6, 1968; the son of the late Donald and Shirley LoRusso, and brother to the late David LoRusso. He was a lifelong resident of Woodbury and attended Nonnewaug High School. Dan was an authentic, genuine and kind man who thoroughly enjoyed a job well done. He built life-long friendships over the years, growing up together as a community village he thought of as extended family. Dan's love of agriculture and cattle came from his greatest mentor, Dan Logue, who he worked for early in his career. It was during this time where Dan found a passion for raising cattle, something he enjoyed every day.

Dan joined Bill Drakeley, of Drakeley Pools, where he worked many roles, including a leadership position alongside his good friend and boss, Bill, for over 25 years. Dan forged unwavering friendships with all of the people he worked with. He took pride in his work and didn't leave the hard tasks for others, he simply did the job fully.

Besides his wife of 38 years, Vicki, he is survived by two daughters; Becca LoRusso Hretz and her husband Ken of Woodbury, CT and their children Peyton and Jacob; and Amanda LoRusso Payne and her husband Ben of Southbury, CT and their daughter Rylynn. Dan took his role of grandfather and patriarch very seriously, and his cherished grandchildren called him "Sir," a title he wore with immense love and pride. Dan is also survived by his brother-in-law James Lynn Jr. and his wife Debra of Oakville, CT and their children; and his mother-in-law, Gloria Gotto and her husband Skip from Ocala, Florida; as well as many friends who were considered family.

Dan was known for his quick wit, the colorful stories he told and the Sunday family gatherings where he showcased his smoked meats. His gruff exterior shielded a teddy bear heart with deep love for his wife, daughters, grandchildren and life-long friends.

A celebration of life will be held at the Memorial Hall in Bethlehem, CT on February 16, 2025 at 1 pm. Please dress casually and bring your favorite stories, just as Dan would have wanted it.

Donations may be made to the Daniel Logue Memorial Scholarship Fund, in care of the AgriScience Program, Nonnewaug High School, 5 Minortown Road, Woodbury CT 06798. Checks should be made out to Region 14 with "Daniel Logue" written in the memo space on the check.

I met Dan about 8 years ago while digging a swimming pool for Drakley. My first thought when I saw Dan walk up to me with that gruff look on his face was, oh boy this guy is going scream at me. Instead, we became good friends. Dan was one of the BEST! Dan and I would share stories about raising cows. I can't believe he is gone, and we will truly miss him!! RIP Dan! I am so saddened to hear of Dan´s untimely death. My heart goes out to his wife and girls. I worked with Dan many years ago at both Scott Pools and Drakeley Pools. What I remember most was his quick sense of humor, always spoken with a twinkle in his eyes. He was indeed a teddy bear - being big and strong, yet gentle and kind. Wishing everyone who will miss him comfort, fond memories, and peace.
