Daniel Malamud

Daniel Malamud, 84, of New York, formerly from Philadelphia, died on Wednesday June 21 2023. Cherished son of the late Jack and Jennie Malamud. Beloved husband of 61 years of the late Judith Malamud (Disner); devoted father of Randy Malamud and wife Nina Gupta of Atlanta, Georgia, and Lisa Apostol and husband Paul Apostol Jr. of Framingham, Massachusetts; beloved Grandpa Danny to Jake and Ben Simonds-Malamud and Owen and Emma Apostol; loving brother to Jerry Malamud and Judy Malamud and the late Rita (Malamud) Seidman and Mel Seidman; brother-in-law to Gail Lindenberg and the late Stuart Lindenberg; and cherished Uncle to many nieces and nephews. Daniel was born in Detroit and attended the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where he met the love of his life. He continued his education at the University of Cincinnati where he got his PhD in Biochemistry. He researched infectious diseases and diagnostics, and his prestigious career took him to the Massachusetts General Hospital, the University of Pennsylvania and NYU, where he worked until he retired in 2020. Passionate about his work, Daniel loved to travel and enjoy a good martini but most of all, spending time with family and friends.

A memorial service will be held Friday July 7, 10:30 am, at Hillel at NYU Bronfman Center, 7 E. 10th Street, NYC.
