Daniel Marchetti Obituary
Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 20, 2023.
Daniel "Danny" Marchetti (83) was born in 1940 to Anthony and Caroline Marchetti in Northumberland, PA. In his youth, Danny enjoyed hunting and fishing with his good friend, Ben Turkel, and most importantly, his dog Buddy. Danny also enjoyed doing yard work and using his creativity and ingenuity to solve problems. Danny learned how to play the piano on his grandmother's player piano when he was five years old and took piano lessons from age ten to age twelve. Danny then found his voice and began to sing and play the guitar in his teenage years, which formed a lifelong love and commitment to music. Danny earned his high school diploma in 1959 from Mergenthaler Vocational-Technical High School. Danny proudly served in the U.S. Army from April 1963 to April 1969 as part of a reserve component. While in the Army, Danny earned a certificate in carpentry. His dedication and commitment to his military associations were commendable. Danny met beautiful, bleach-blonde, long-legged, Patricia, and her son, Brian, in 1965. Danny and Patricia were married in 1966 and became a family of three. In 1964, Danny started working in Baltimore, MD for Crown, Cork, and Seal as a machinist. Danny completed a machinist apprenticeship course within the company in 1968. While working for Crown, he learned how to create machines that capped bottles and cans and used his skill to make treasures for his household, like jewelry, belt buckles, tools, and lamps. Danny's family grew when he and Patricia welcomed their daughter, Michele, into the world in 1968; she was their bright light in a dark time of the Baltimore riots. When Danny and his family moved to Anne Arundel County, he made sure that his passion for music would fill their home. Pianos, guitars, microphones, a jukebox, and other musical instruments were keys for joyful memories made with friends and family. Danny continued playing music for people and with Patricia as his agent, he became a local celebrity performing all over town. If you happened to find yourself in Baltimore on a night he was playing, you may have heard his high note of "Unchained Melody" echoing across the Inner Harbor. In 1994, Danny retired from Crown, Cork, and Seal to be a full-time grandpop. Danny played an ever-present role in his grandkids' lives. He was their biggest fan and attended every event for his grandkids. He sat through endless baseball practices and games, dance classes and recitals, music performances, school events, and any other extracurricular activities that perked his grandkids' interests. Danny joyfully played elementary board games with his grandkids and patiently taught them his art of poker. Along with their grandmother, Danny enjoyed sharing his favorite restaurants with his grandkids and would frequently pick them up for dinner and movie dates. Danny had an incredible love for pizza and made it a staple for his grandkids; He would often arrive at their house with a pizza box in hand. Danny's love for music was contagious and has had a lifelong impact on his grandkids, now each playing their own instrument. Danny began working part-time as a pre-treatment inspector for the Department of Public Works of Anne Arundel County in 1996. There, he was recognized as "the guy that always whistled a good song" and was a friendly face among his coworkers. Danny retired from AACO in 2018. Even after his retirement, Danny continued to play the piano and sing for local assisted living facilities and senior centers in Anne Arundel County and the surrounding areas. Danny always encouraged others to join in the music and would invite guests to perform with him or get up and dance. His music repertoire increased with his age, and he entertained any room with endless charm. Danny lived a vibrant social life and spent many evenings sharing dinners with friends, dancing, and playing pool at The Elks, The Moose and The American Legion. Danny moved in with his daughter, son-in-law, and two youngest grandchildren in February 2023. He spent the days listening to all of his favorite oldies CD's, watching his favorite shows, playing the keyboard, eating meals with his family, and snuggling with his grandpups. He summed up his experience of living at his daughter's house by saying, "It's a pretty nice life here." Daniel "Danny" Marchetti passed away peacefully in July 2023 after spending his final days living with his family. Danny was predeceased by his father, Anthony Marchetti, his mother, Caroline Marchetti, his wife, Patricia Marchetti, his brothers, Richard Marchetti and Vince Marchetti Sr., and his nieces, Tina Eckel and Hope Marchetti. Danny is survived by his son, Brian Woerner, his daughter, Michele and her husband, Troy Morris; and his 6 grandchildren, Cierra and her husband, Alexander Church; Jesse and his wife Jenna Morris; Hallie Morris, and Brody Morris as well as his nephews, Tony Marchetti and family; Vince Marchetti Jr. and family; and Michael Freeman; his nieces, Judy Weter, Robin Drnek, Melanie McClendon, and their families. Danny was kind, generous, thoughtful, faithful, smart, wise, resourceful, loving, devoted, and hard-working. Two quotes of Danny's that he lived by were, "Be nice to everyone; you never know who your boss is going to be." and "You don't need to know all the answers; you just need to know where to find them." Danny was a devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend and will be sorely missed by all who knew him. A memorial service and reception will be held at Lighthouse Church on September 1st, 2023, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Gilchrist Hospice. Without the team of Gilchrist, our family would not have been able to take care of Dad in our home. We will be forever grateful to them, (Crystal, Ebony, Sally, Latoya, Jenn, Rebecca, etc.). We are also deeply grateful for our additional team members (Emma, Angie, Jerry, Melinda, Aynit, and Wendy). Each of them quickly became valuable parts of the family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.
