DESTINY'S CHILD

Dearest ones I hear you crying your tears upon my face
Your arms like wings caressing me each word a struggle to speak.
With every step tight company through faith our lives we keep
White feathers enthrall the Angels songs awaken my deeper sleep.

Loving friends and family the pleasures of youthful days
Through all the miles a beaming smile remember me this way.
Wondrous are the feelings a sooner day is done
I've put away my earthly chores my new life has begun.

Heaven holds the book of fate Destiny enriches itself through time
The gifts from the giver are precious of character and noble mind.
A dream that came to life one day Destiny's Child takes the stage
A joyous athletic journey courting the crowd with endless praise.

Heart to heart and hand to hand the "basketball" my claim to fame
From dribbles, to passes, to lay-up shots, the basket scores create a name.
Of Champions and Championships the riches that come with time
With bright eyes and a hopeful heart I knew the world was mine.

Birthday wishes, Christmas wishes cherished moments aglow
Home the shelter of the heart what else in life to know.
Humility a blessed virtue it graces the inner core
To the Arm that never tires the opening of Heaven's door.

I am Destiny's Child its influence lies easily at hand
To live life and to live it well is the choice of every man.
An honest heart is free to love it's spirit a lighter air
In dreams you cannot picture a more beautiful world so fair.

I'm the Angel on your shoulder every tear will come to pass
Beyond the clouds of sorrow Heaven's greater treasure cast.
Love the sweetest ember His glory in praises we sing
Solemn is the tree life's Destiny my flight on Angels wings.

Until we meet again,

All our love,

The Lane Family

Danny was an accomplished basketball player is high school and college. He was an incredible coach, who personified class. But he was an even better human being. Whether is was CYO basketball where we were on opposite sides, or when my youngest daughter played the great Johnson Lady Panther Team while she was a freshman at La Salle, it was hard not to root for Danny. In is honor we will endeavor to emulate the room in his heart he had for so many people.

I am very sad to hear of Dan's passing. I have know Dan since he was a student at Johnston High School where I taught and was assistant principal during his time at the high school. I always admired Dan for his basketball skills, but most importantly for the kind of person that he was. In recent years I frequently saw Dan in the morning a Brewed Awakenings in Johnston. He always greeted me with a smile and a handshake. I will always remember him for the kind of person that he was. The world could use more people like him.

My prayers are with him and his family.
