Having a tough day remembering Daniel. I´ve never been more proud than when he returned from training with his "pizza box" medal for rifle marksmanship. Even now 16 years later, I´m still just as proud

Today I shared a story of Dan that meant a lot to me as a teen. We did theatre together in High School and he tried to help me through some very dark times. I think about him a lot. I'll never forget you, Dan.

I traveled to Washington DC for the weekend of 11.11.11 to visit my daughter and tour the local sites. Upon entering the main Visitor Center at Arlington National Cemetery I recognized a familiar face on the quilt displayed in the center of the main lobby..It was Daniel McGuire from Mashpee, front and center underneath the Massachusetts insignia. I recognized his name as the civic, athletic and academic resident I had read about and admired in the Cape Cod Times..I include this picture for his friends and family, in his honor..My thoughts and prayers are with you all during the holidays, and beyond.. Daniel, soon it will be a year that you will have left God's earth for higher ground. The death of a child is something you never get over so please let your parents know that you are now ok. God has a way of giving us signs when we're still and I pray that God has allowed those signs to come to your parents and family. As a Gold Star Mother I know the pain of the death of a child. I also know that it's not the death we remember but the life you lived and loved. May that life be celebrated and remembered forever.

The gravestones of Daniel and Paul Conlon Jr. are within feet of my son's at the Massachusetts Military Cemetery, so somehow I feel that they know each other. Daniel and my son, Lcpl Guy A Lewis (Allen) were running buddies. He is deeply missed by Allen. I understood from my son the day before his passing was his 1 yr anniversary in the Marine Corp. My heart goes out to you. Thank You for your sacrifice so I can have what I have and do what I do.

To the McGuire family: My son just came back from Afghanistan safely. I am SO sorry for your lose, our whole family is. I have 3 boys and two of them knew your son and the 3rd went to Mashpee High with him--we all cried for you and we cry for ourselves and ALL the parents that are going threw what is in our hearts, we hope all our men&women will be home safley and soon! As a fellow Marnie and his team leader, I'd like to say that is was a complete honest to have been serving along side of Daniel. He was always looking to help thoughs that needed it. Daniel was an outstanding Marine. He is one of the FEW THE PROUD, and will always be remembered. I wish that I can do more for the family to help them pass through this hard times. As I packed my suitcase to prepare for my trip to Parris Island to see my son graduate from Lima Co. 3068 as a new marine on 22 August, I listend to the news report of another marine killed....I froze and stared at the TV....I thought to myself, how can I have so much joy to see my son graduate from PI as a new marine when this family has just had their hearts torn from their bodies over the death of their son...I cried all night for your son Pfc. McGuire...When I brought my son home on Friday 22 August I told him about your son...he sat silent and then said "this is what we do mom"....Please know that my heart goes out to your family and allways remember this: Semper Fi and OOH RAH! Dan had such a servants heart -- much the same that I see in each of you. I so appreciated his willingness to give up a morning to help us load the Operation Christmas Child truck last November. He quietly volunteered his time and muscles (which were greatly needed!) to get the job done. Our family will never forget his perfect performance of "King Herod" in the Christmas Pagaent too!

I keep thinking about the verse in Jeremiah that says "I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future". At first I wasn't sure about what appears to be "harm" brought to Dan.....but then I realized the prosperity God brought to him and the hope and future he has assured for him. His plan was fulfilled! Dan loved the Lord and I can't wait to see him again when I enter glory!

You are a family of great witness to your Savior. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse of how God uses even seemingly impossible situations for His glory! God bless you!

Daniel was a hero well before his death having had the courage to stand for something that most won't have the courage to do;They are the few and the brave. Love to a Fallen family,
I am so sorry to hear about another fallen Hero! I know there are no words that I can say to ease your pain! The loss of a child, husband or brother at such a young age is something that is the most difficult thing to bare! I wish there were something I could say that would ease your pain! We can only pray that one day we will be together again. I was told that if you stretch a piece of string a mile long and line that string with beads, the beads would resemble eternity. Life here on earth is equal to “only one bead”. We have only a short time here compared to the time we will spend in eternity with our loved ones. The only thing I can say is let faith keep you grounded in your life and hold on to your loved ones! This will help you through! It is what helps me get through my days. My son, Anthony entered into the Heavens to be with our Lord in 2007. We can never understand the reasons why our loved ones would ever be taken from us. I pray that one day our pain will ease!

My family & I did not know your very special son, but heard about him in Florida.. Please let us say that we were all so blessed to a wonderful young man to serve and protect our country. You are all in our thoughts and prayer. He is now an angel in heaven and still protecting us by watching over everyone.

We can not imagine the pain that is in your hearts. We can hope that is time is will lessen. We are so proud of Daniel , he gave the ultimate sacrifice to keep our wonderful country free. I truly understand the loss your family is feeling Daniel. My brother was killed in Iraq in 2004 when we were both deployed there, and there is no greater sacrifice. I am so truly sorry for your loss. I lost my fiance Aug 22nd 2007, and I was 8 1/2 months pregnant w/ our first son.
I know the pain is hard, and truly unbearable, but know now that your son is at rest and with the Lord.
Hopefully, someday you'll be able to look back and when you think of your son, it will be a smile rather than tears. God Bless you and your family. And many thanks to your son for the sacrifices he made for our country!

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.


There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a
time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will
give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day
was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the
way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick
him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in
your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,

I do not know Daniel. This morning I was so moved when I read about him I had to contact the family to thank them for giving this world of ours such a wonderful young man. Its just horrible he had to be lost so soon.

He wants you to know that your son died with great great honor and his heart goes out to you as parents. Dear Kay & Mark -

It has been far too long since I've had the pleasure of visiting with you. Longer still since I baby sat your boys. But now I look at pictures of your Dan on the computer and can not get over how much he grew - and how much he looked like Mark!

My heart cries for the pain that you are going through now. But I rejoice that Dan now gets to meet our Heavenly Father. I know your faith is strong, and hope that it gives you comfort through these hard times.

I wish I could be there to support you on Saturday, but I know mom and dad will be there so I will ask them to bring my love with them.
