Having a tough day remembering Daniel. I´ve never been more proud than when he returned from training with his "pizza box" medal for rifle marksmanship. Even now 16 years later, I´m still just as proud

Today I shared a story of Dan that meant a lot to me as a teen. We did theatre together in High School and he tried to help me through some very dark times. I think about him a lot. I'll never forget you, Dan.

We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let you and your family and friends know that we have made a small donation to the St. Jude Children´s Research Hospital in the name of Daniel A.C. McGuire US Marine Private 1st Class.

We recognize that this is a humble tribute, but we wanted you to know that it is heartfelt and made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals across the American youth hockey community and beyond. We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

I traveled to Washington DC for the weekend of 11.11.11 to visit my daughter and tour the local sites. Upon entering the main Visitor Center at Arlington National Cemetery I recognized a familiar face on the quilt displayed in the center of the main lobby..It was Daniel McGuire from Mashpee, front and center underneath the Massachusetts insignia. I recognized his name as the civic, athletic and academic resident I had read about and admired in the Cape Cod Times..I include this picture for his friends and family, in his honor..My thoughts and prayers are with you all during the holidays, and beyond.. Sincerely, Nicole Vautrain and Annaliese Heussler

Daniel,
On these, the 235th USMC birth date and Veterans day I choose to think of you and the ultimate sacrifice your family also made in laying your life upon The Alter of Freedom. It is through men as yourself that I am afforded the right of religion of my choice and my right to vote.
Which I recently and most heartily practiced!
Amongst these rights are many countless others that so many of us take for granted.
Please know, Daniel I remain Semper Fidelis!

Daniel, soon it will be a year that you will have left God's earth for higher ground. The death of a child is something you never get over so please let your parents know that you are now ok. God has a way of giving us signs when we're still and I pray that God has allowed those signs to come to your parents and family. As a Gold Star Mother I know the pain of the death of a child. I also know that it's not the death we remember but the life you lived and loved. May that life be celebrated and remembered forever.

Your parents aren't alone and there are many who are there for them. If they ever want to talk to others who have gone through the death of a child or loved one in active duty please do contact me.

May God continue to provide His love and comfort to your family and friends.

"I Sit and Look Out"
I sit on post with the dust swirling about me and the heat soaking my body with sweat.
I hear the voices of many free people on their way home.
I see the people voting for the first time in a free election.
I see the statue of a vicious dictator toppling like an old deadened tree.
I mark how these events signify the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.
I see the fallen heroes that have given themselves for what they believe.
I observe the insurgents who scamper away after having taken innocent lives.
I observe the good that has been wrought overtaking the evil that once rampaged.
All these part of a 8 year campaign to stop the wickedness from destroying nations.
See, hear, and am proud.

A Warrior's Tribute

As a hot wind sweeps across the street,
it stirs the dust at a young mans feet.
Standing watch in a foreign town,
No matter the danger he'll stand his ground.

Protecting a people's right to be free,
He understands what few will ever see.
What the media chooses to show to us,
is one sided and totally bogus.

Killed while standing guard,
His death hit his home town hard.
A community united in pain,
Our loss became Christ's gain.

Being a Marine was his job,
even more he was a warrior for God.
Protecting those who needed aid,
Because of this his memory will never fade.

Love you Dan! Your brother Ben

The Wind on The Downs

“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”

(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )

The Other Side

i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.

can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.

i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side

the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.

i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

Prayer for Peace

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

Amen

Dear Family of Pfc. Daniel A.C. McGuire,

Love and prayers sent your way...
Right now, no words can reach your pain from the loss of your son, grandson and brother. Be assured that the Marine Corps. will comfort you and keep you and meet your every need. As time goes on, this will not be any less hurtful but you'll see glimmers of peace begin in your heart. I lost my son, also 19 years old, on April 22nd, 2008. I am just now re-reading all the prayers and cards sent and you'll learn how many share our pain and know the depths of our grief. Reach out to other Gold Star families they are a wealth of support and good teachers for the days that follow.
Thinking of you, your son Daniel and the 3rd Battalion, 6th Marines that mourn his loss as well. Thank you to your son for his service. He is an honorable American!

Mark, Kae, Ben, Steven, Sam,
Dan had such a servants heart -- much the same that I see in each of you. I so appreciated his willingness to give up a morning to help us load the Operation Christmas Child truck last November. He quietly volunteered his time and muscles (which were greatly needed!) to get the job done. Our family will never forget his perfect performance of "King Herod" in the Christmas Pagaent too!

I keep thinking about the verse in Jeremiah that says "I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future". At first I wasn't sure about what appears to be "harm" brought to Dan.....but then I realized the prosperity God brought to him and the hope and future he has assured for him. His plan was fulfilled! Dan loved the Lord and I can't wait to see him again when I enter glory!

You are a family of great witness to your Savior. Thanks for letting us have a glimpse of how God uses even seemingly impossible situations for His glory! God bless you!

Your time with us was short but your memory will last a lifetime. Thank you Dan for fighting for our freedom. I only knew Dan for a brief period of time but his sweetness and sincerity touched my heart. He will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the McGuire Family.

To the family and parents of Daniel I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I too know what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve it’s an individual journey that unfortunately we now have to take. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to be with you and heal you

McGuire Family,

From one Marine Family to another, may God Bless you at this most difficult time.

In the words of Ronald Reagan:

"Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference. The Marines don't have that problem."

Your son made a difference in this world and for that you will always be proud.

May God Bless you and Keep you.

Love to a Fallen family,
I am so sorry to hear about another fallen Hero! I know there are no words that I can say to ease your pain! The loss of a child, husband or brother at such a young age is something that is the most difficult thing to bare! I wish there were something I could say that would ease your pain! We can only pray that one day we will be together again. I was told that if you stretch a piece of string a mile long and line that string with beads, the beads would resemble eternity. Life here on earth is equal to “only one bead”. We have only a short time here compared to the time we will spend in eternity with our loved ones. The only thing I can say is let faith keep you grounded in your life and hold on to your loved ones! This will help you through! It is what helps me get through my days. My son, Anthony entered into the Heavens to be with our Lord in 2007. We can never understand the reasons why our loved ones would ever be taken from us. I pray that one day our pain will ease!
God Bless Your Family!

Ben & Stephen, My heart is very heavy right now. You know how much I loved you guys. I hate to think of the pain you have to go through. Please know that I will never ever forget Dan . He was special to me as all three of you boys were. Very rarely does a busdriver have the priviledge of being a part of such a wonderful family of brothers. i have nothing but fond memories of Dan, he was a wonderful young man and he made a difference in this world as i am sure that the two of you will also. Stay close to each other and trust that God will get you through. Love, Deby the busdriver

I truly understand the loss your family is feeling Daniel. My brother was killed in Iraq in 2004 when we were both deployed there, and there is no greater sacrifice. I recorded a song written by Jeffrey Steele in Nashville called "Nineteen," and I hope everyone who misses you will find that it honors your memory and your sacrifice. The song is on my myspace at www.myspace.com/ryanweavercountry. Thank you Daniel for believing in America. Thank you for standing up for all that we hold dear. My heart truly breaks for your loved ones and your community.

To the family of PFC McGuire,
I am so truly sorry for your loss. I lost my fiance Aug 22nd 2007, and I was 8 1/2 months pregnant w/ our first son.
I know the pain is hard, and truly unbearable, but know now that your son is at rest and with the Lord.
Hopefully, someday you'll be able to look back and when you think of your son, it will be a smile rather than tears. God Bless you and your family. And many thanks to your son for the sacrifices he made for our country!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived
okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here
is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you
every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up
and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were
gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for
me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's
chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life
on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not
be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But
one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a
time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will
give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day
was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the
way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick
him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in
your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember
you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear McGuire family,
I write this with such a heavy heart because I cant imagine what you are going through right now. I also have a Marine serving in Iraq now and just received a e-mail from him sending his condolences for your Marine. He wants you to know that your son died with great great honor and his heart goes out to you as parents. He also said he wished he could be here to attend his service even though he did not know him personally. Please know that you are in our prayers. Semper Fi.

Dear Kay & Mark -

It has been far too long since I've had the pleasure of visiting with you. Longer still since I baby sat your boys. But now I look at pictures of your Dan on the computer and can not get over how much he grew - and how much he looked like Mark!

My heart cries for the pain that you are going through now. But I rejoice that Dan now gets to meet our Heavenly Father. I know your faith is strong, and hope that it gives you comfort through these hard times.

I wish I could be there to support you on Saturday, but I know mom and dad will be there so I will ask them to bring my love with them.

God Bless you, Kay and Mark.
