From classroom visits and serving mass for him at St. James, to marrying Denise and I and baptizing our twins, Father Dan always took us as we were and assured us that God would do the same. A kinder man would be difficult to find. Rest in peace.

Father Murphy welcomed my late godmother back to the church and subsequently gave me religious instruction, baptized and confirmed me (4/17/99)at Our Lady of Lourdes, Windsor. He was caring, delightful, a good priest and man. I last saw him at the nursing home in Vestal- He was surprized to see me. I happened to be praying in Mount Saint Alphonsus chapel in West Park, NY when I got the text message from my mother. I cried all day. I know he is still praying for me. I will miss you "Murph."

Father Murphy was not only one of my parents best friends but he was also a member of our Derrick family. Father Dan had attended several Derrick family functions and reunions over the years and we couldn't wait to see him to test his knowledge of all the names of the growing Derrick family from year to year. Father Dan married quite a few of the Derrick children and even went on to baptize their children. His smile and jokes and his passion to help others makes him a truly admirable man. Father Dan ... You will be missed by your entire Derrick family... We Love You...

Reverend Daniel G. Murphy Sir,
You married Lisa Derrick and I 16 years ago this past May. You were such a huge part of the Derrick family functions and reunions before and after I became part of the Derrick family. I have heard so many wonderful stories about your friendship through the years from two of your best friends; Ed and Ellie Derrick, my Mother and Father-In Law. You were always a gentleman and one of the funniest people I ever had the privilege of meeting. I thank you for all of your generosity and friendship. You will be missed more than you know. May you rest in peace, my thoughts and prayers are with your family. Thank you for making this world a little brighter while you were here, as we have your memories now to always make us smile.

Very Appreciative,
Lisa and Scott Anderson

Father Murphy will be greatly missed by so many people. He was the best priest anyone could ask to be part of their lives....he made going to church something to look forward to, which has been hard to find since he retired from Our Lady of Lourdes in Windsor. He was family in our eyes.

Father Murphy was among one of the greatest persons to meet. He was a wonderful man of faith and a wonderful man in general. I last remember him being at a confession at Seton Catholic Central just prior to my graduation after graduation I voluntered to serve the country and volunteered to go to war. His words stuck with me overseas and in a war zone and I came home safe . Thank you Father Murphy for your words of wisdom you will be truly missed.

My husband and I met Father Murphy (Murph)in 1972 when he would come to New Berlin to visit his friend and brother priest Father Joseph Kennedy. He was a good friend and confidante. Many times we would meet him at Cortese for lunch and if he was passing through New Berlin he would stop in for a visit. He was especially nice to my mother and lead the rosary at her wake. Rest in peace Father Murphy. My condolences to his family.

Father Murphy was a great friend of my father's. He would visit Fr. Joseph Kennedy in New Berlin and come to our house for dinner on Sundays. He spent many hours talking to my grandmother who would bake him apple pies. Fr. Murphy was very generous to my family with his love and devotion. He has made many gracious in heaven as my grandmother would say. I would often stop to visit him in Binghamton and we would have dinner at Cortese. Thank you Fr. Murphy for you love, devotion, and friendship! Regina Perry

I came to know Father Murphy when he was in Windsor, not as a parishoner of his church, but as a fellow Windsorite. He was an amazing priest and a friend to all who came his way. His love for everyone was so apparent. May he rest in peace and God Bless.

Thank you, Fr. Dan, for everything you gave me and my family over the years. We were so honored that you not only made time for us, but played a pivotal role in our key life events (from baptisms, weddings to funerals). Your humor brought so much joy to everyone you encountered and always seem to put life in the right perspective. On a personal note, it always meant a lot to me when you would bring bring me special coin to add to the collection when I was young. You always made me feel very special. You'll be missed. Love, Brian, Liz and Ana Crane (Atlanta, GA)

I also grew up at St. James when Fr. Murphy was an associate. He fostered our faith formation and was a true priest. I was fortunate to have been an altar boy while he was there.
I remember him visiting the classrooms at St. James and giving all of us his blessing.
He was a good man and a good priest.
Rest in peace Fr....
