Dan Joseph Murphy, known to his loved ones as Dan, passed away on November 30, 2023, in Hillsboro, Oregon, at the age of 53. Born on January 27, 1970, in Coos Bay, Dan had a zest for life and a generous spirit that endeared him to many.

In his professional life, Dan found great joy in working in the automobile sales business. Alongside his father, Lee Murphy, Dan co-founded Lee Murphy Auto Sales in Cornelius. Together, they built a thriving family car lot, forming lasting personal and professional relationships in the industry. After his father's passing, Dan continued to operate the business which all together lasted over 20 years.

Outside of work, Dan had a passion for cooking and was renowned for his exceptional culinary skills. He also cherished his love for sports, especially supporting the Trail Blazers and the University of Oregon Ducks football team.

Dan will be deeply missed by his girlfriend, Maria Deladia; mother, Katherine Murphy; sister, Colleen Jeffery (Joel); brother, Boyd Frizzell (Becky); and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father, Lee Murphy, and brother, Brian Murphy.

A memorial mass in honor of Dan will be held on Friday, February 23, 2024, at 12:00 at St. Anthony of Padua in Forest Grove. Prior to the mass, a rosary will be recited at 11:30. For those unable to attend in person, the mass will be livestreamed on the parish's Facebook page and website. Following the service, a reception will be held in the hall.

Dan's warm heart, kindness, and zest for life will be fondly remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

I remember being surprised how good of a cook Dan was. Despite having a small kitchen he pumped out one of the best Thanksgiving dinners I'd ever eaten. Dan had such a nice disposition and was a welcoming person. I had never spent much time with him because I was a relative who lived in a different state, but I was struck by his hospitality and warmth.

My first memory of Dan was he was brought home from the hospital after he was born. I looked at him in his crib and held his tiny hand and thought what a great gift, a little brother.
