I sat beside Daniel for six crazy years, both at Rio Tinto and Cloud Peak Energy. We called each other "cell mates". Working with Daniel was an adventure... We laughed, kvetched, argued politics and shared stories of our families. I miss him everyday. Thank you, Daniel for placing laughter and joy into our lives.

I met Daniel a few years ago, when I was new to the industry. He was always full of energy and excited to talk business. His passion for family, life and career was contagious, and Daniel was often the center of a lively conversation. We lost a great colleague, but more importantly, we lost a better friend. My condolences to the Ochoa family, friends and acquaintances.

I became friends with Daniel during our short time together at NRG. I consider myself very lucky to have had that opportunity. He helped me through some difficult times. When I first met Daniel at a NCTA meeting, he really got under my skin. I am happy I did not allow that first impression to keep me from taking the time to get to know him better. Daniel had such a great sense of humor. I always went away from conversations with him in such a great mood and with tears in my eyes from laughing so much. He was so funny. Daniel's passing is a loss to us all. My deepest sympathies to Susan, Daniel's children and his entire family. May your memories hold you through these tough times.

I always enjoyed seeing, talking, and working with Daniel. He was truly one of the "good guys." His passing is a real loss in the coal industry, and, remembering his wonderful comments about his family, a very tragic loss for them. I miss him, and I pray for his family.

My prayers are with Daniel's family in this most challenging of times. I had the pleasure of working with Daniel over the past few years and he was always positive and uplifting. I will remember him always as a joyful man.

Many in the coal industry are wondering if a fund is being set up for the children so we show our support.

Daniel...you were a wonderful man and will be greatly missed. You were always good at making people laugh no matter what the situation was. And you always went over and beyond to help others and take care of your family. I cannot believe you are gone...but you have a bigger job now. You have angel wings and I know you will be hovering over your beautiful family watching out for them. We have lost a great friend, but we will meet again. You will always be in our hearts and I promise to do my duty and help take care of your babies. Love and already miss you bunches!!!

BeBe... even though I can't be there with the family later on today... I'm praying for everyone! I remember spending Easter at your grandma's house with all the family. And you all always making jokes and playing around. We may have lost a great man, son, brother, husband, father, cousin, friend... but we will never forget you. Keep on making people laugh! Love ya!!
