Daniel was my father. I have never seen or heard of this page until today and I just cried reading through all the lovely messages that people left about him. To this day we miss him dearly and his love is still felt. I still hear his goofy laugh and share his determined nature. I love you endlessly Dad. You are forever missed

It’s been many years since his passing but I found myself thinking about him and his teachings. I was a student of his when I was younger and I’ll never forget the passion he had for God.

Although it is years later after Dan passing and having just found out I am saddened beyond belief.
I worked with Dan in Buffalo New York at a company called United cerebral palsy back in 1996 , having had the opportunity to get to know Dan and to be his friend was a blessing.
I remember we used to pray the rosary various issues that we are both dealing with at the time what impressed me most about Dan was his unstoppable faith.
Once again I am filled with grief and sadness having learned of his passing this morning

Dan was always filled with joy. When he began thoughts of some new crazy idea, he jumped all the way in, like the band he was a member in back in college. This type of activity gave him great joy, but what I noticed is that he spread a lot of joy just by singing. His friends went to watch, listen and have a good time. That was his over flowing love for life, family and his friends. It only grew as Dan became a father and settled down. I know I could feel it.
God sure gave Dan a precious gift and that gift Dan shared with everyone.
Dan was love!
He persevered in anything he attempted. I thought he was trying to be a writer, a signer, a fireman, anything else you can think of that he was doing, but we are wrong. Dan was attempting to give you his love and joy.
Please remember his joy and love in your hearts and share it with others.

To the entire Pittaluga Family, I wanted you to know how very sorry me & my entire family are to hear of Danny's passing. I lived three doors away from him my whole life.
Went to St. Brendan's together for 8 years. He was a wonderful, happy and great friend throughout my childhood. Please know my most sincere thoughts are with his wife, children and family.

To All the Pittaluga Family,
I am so saddened to hear about Danny. I will keep you in my prayers. Danny was so full of life and love and lived with such joy and that is what I will always remember. There isn't anyone who didn't immediately fall in love with Danny and his pursuit of always challenging himself intellectually, physically and emotionally. I picture him now sitting by the bottom of the lifeguard chair at Breezy Point, reading some required English literature, thinking about his next run to the rocks! He inspired me to become a lifeguard in the hopes that he might notice me! It is not often that one's outer beauty reflect the inside -- God blessed Danny and us with both. He was and will always be a beautiful human being and I am blessed to have known and loved him. Again, I will keep you all close in my heart and pray for your strength. God bless you.

My prayers go out to the Pittulaga family. Having known Dan from his childhood, St. Brendan's in Midwood Brooklyn, he was a inspiration to all of us.Dan was always cheerful and had a smile. From his days as a young grammar school player where he showed his skills in the Courtyard on Ave O, to Xavier HS where he had a summer job as a Lifeguard at Breezy then on to Buffalo where he took part as a lead singer in a band while in college, Dan always had a zest for life. We have all learned from you Dan. He will be eternally missed. Rest in peace.

Though I had not seen Dan in a quite a few years I'll never forget the bushy haired, good-natured kid I shared Italian class with for 4 years at Xavier H.S. who also happened to be a heck of a basketball player and guy. My sincerest condolences to his family who I hope will find some comfort in knowing that the Sons of Xavier Class of '82 will always remember him. Arriverderci mio amico! John Polis - Xavier '82.

To the Pittaluga Family:
Please know that you are all in the prayers of Danny's Xavier H.S. classmates and Xavier's Jesuit community back east, indeed in the prayers of the entire Xavier community. Many emails have been sent around since we first learned of Dan's passing - all included how Dan touched our lives, even in some cases if we hadn't seen or spoken again to him in 20 years he left an indelible mark...some stories brought a tear, but all brought a smile. I hope your loss and sorrow is tempered in some small way by knowing we - seemingly "strangers" - are thinking of you all and keeping you in our prayers. We will not forget Danny, we will not forget you. God bless. Keep the faith.

To Dan's wife Martha and his dear children and family. It is with great sadness that we who knew Danny in his youth have heard of his untimely passing. Dan did live fully when we knew him on West 16th Street and as we are hearing from close friends and family he did continue to live his life fully and so well. Deepest Sympathies.
