Daniel Sack Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 30, 2025.
Daniel K. Sack, beloved husband of Sandra (Schoen) Sack and father of Thomas Aaron and Megan Charlotte Sack, of Ellington, passed away September 27, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 58 years old. Born on October 31, 1966, Dan was the son of Lawrence Sack and the late Sandra (Kaufman) Sack. He was raised in Windsor, graduated from Loomis Chaffee High School, and then from Hofstra University with a degree in finance. Dan worked in the mortgage industry for 40 years. Most recently, he was a senior mortgage officer for Northpoint Mortgage, where he was celebrated for his high level of knowledge, and commitment to each borrower he served. One of his greatest joys was helping families embark on their journeys to home ownership.

Even greater, was Dan's love and care for his family and friends. Dan was an extraordinarily devoted son, husband, father, and friend who always put the needs of others before his own. Dan and Sandy were married for nearly 35 wonderful years. Fiercely protective and supportive, he was a rock for his family and an incredible role model for all who knew him. He was deeply loving, generous, and gentle, always treating others with extreme respect and kindness. Dan had a sharp wit, a mastery of puns, dad jokes, and wordplay, and he could tell a detailed story like no other. A devout Red Sox and UConn Huskies fan, Dan was a treasure trove of statistics and trivia. He loved Star Trek, 80s music, Disney, and reality TV. Visiting Ogunquit, Maine and traveling throughout Vermont were among his favorite things to do with his family. He also cherished his pet rabbits, Hunny and Buzzy. Dan delighted in Thai food but always preferred his wife's home-cooked meals. In addition to his wife, children, and father, Dan is survived by an extended family of sisters, brothers, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, whom he loved dearly.

Dan was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in South Windsor, where he faithfully served many leadership roles. He loved studying and discussing the Bible with his church family and strengthening his faith.

Dan was an incredibly humble man content with his simple yet beautiful life. He left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His legacy of love, wisdom, and humor will live on through the memories that make all who knew him smile.

A memorial service to honor Dan is scheduled for Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 239 Graham Rd., South Windsor. Attendees are encouraged not to wear black; Dan was casual and his favorite color was blue. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Our Savior Lutheran Church.

My deepest condolences to family and friends.
I have never met Mr. Sack personally, but have been honored to work with him over the phone while buying my first home during the pandemic. He was incredibly kind, helpful and professional, and without him I would not be where I am today. I will always be grateful.

Dan was a pleasure to work with. A smart and capable mortgage lender who got our clients financed and into their first-ever home just very recently. I'm shocked to hear of his passing. Much love to his family, what a loss. I'm so sorry.

Dan worked hard to help me get the financing I needed to purchase my new home 6 years ago and I will always be grateful.

Dan, so sad to hear you've passed. W our childhoods are long behind us, but I have fond memories of Trick-or-treating on (or near) your birthday, discovering the nuances of Red Sox baseball and baseball cards in general, and our family trips to Old Orchard Beach. (By the way I am envious of your Star Trek Mego action figures to this day)

I appreciated you keeping in touch all these years - with your positive messages on my late brother Marc's birthday, my birthday, and whenever the Red Sox did something interesting. (Ironically I got word of your passing just as our team made the playoffs, at first glance I thought the message was going to be you cheering them on.)

I am so glad that we got to see each other as adults and catch up on our lives in person one more time a few years ago. Thank you for making the effort to make that happen. Neither of us knew how precious that reunion would end up being.

My best to your whole family. I know you'll be looking out for them (and the Red Sox).

Say hi to Marc for us.
