What a wonderful man. Such a positive person. Washington CT was so lucky to have him as a giving and engaged citizen. My deepest sympathies to you Margaret.

Margaret, I was so sorry to learn of Dan´s passing. I miss his presence outside the Foid Market, and I so appreciated his guidance and good will regarding all things Washington. He leaves a large hole in our community. Fondly, Sarah Griswold

There aren´t words to express the depth of support I received from Dan.

I valued Dan as a friend, professional colleague, and informal mentor. Our relationship evolved from our time at Claritas in the 80s. He was very supportive of my ideas at that time and I always admired his creativity, particularly to take existing software tools and redeploy them to address even more marketing issues and questions. Quite an impressive person and I will long cherish memories of our client calls, one-on-one meetings with him, and just the sheer enjoyment of his presentations.

I had the absolute pleasure to work quite a bit with Dan during our joint time at Claritas. And continues to have connections with him at Advo and Valassis.

He was always a delight to work with.

I especially liked to watch him mesmerize a room full of potential clients. Pacing back and forth (never an idle moment), stroking that wonderful white beard, weaving tales, often out of thin air....but solidly based in data. Magnificent.

He was always engaging, fun, wicked smart, and just a good person to be around.

Dan was one of the most unique, colorful, loving and brilliant men I´ve ever known.

I had the honor of being hired by him at Claritas and working for him my first five years with the company.

I owe him a debt of gratitude for everything he taught me and the patience he showed me during that process.

Dan, you were loved by many and will be missed by all.

Rest in peace my friend, my mentor.

I knew Dan best when we were in 7th and 8th grades. There never was a dull moment when he was around.

What would Dan do? He would reach out and hold your hand and give you the best hug and let you know that he is there to support you. So while I wipe away the tears, I will remember the hugs, the laughter (and cigars), and the joy he happily shared with everyone he met. My deepest condolences.

I worked with Dan in the early mid 90s. He took me under his wing. He was truly a child of the 60s. A beautiful free spirit - someone a lot of fun to be around. Even in the face of some rather grim work projects, his was always a welcome voice, a welcome face. He will be missed.

What a man. Life well lived and a blessing to those who met him. I enjoyed that period of time when Dan would remind me each year we shared a November birthday, and reference another senior leader who together we made the 16, 17, 18 dates - Dan was very strategic and yet so caring at the same time. Rest in peace, Sir.

This is the man who reminded me that a strong name, like Daniel David Sherr and William Charles Varney are important to one's character, he showed me sailing and the beauty of the Connecticut coast and helped me remember that French bread is nothing more than rich man's white bread. Going to miss you D.D.S. Thinking of you Leslie and heaping my prayers on you as we look forward to the day when we can again be with your dad...splashing along the coastline in search of another adventure.
