Daniel M. Zahn

Daniel Melville Zahn, 92 years of age, of Braintree, passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2015, at his home. He was born in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston and graduated from Jamaica Plain High School. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. His service was on the USS Breckinridge. He received the European-African-Mideastern Ribbon. In the Navy, he was a radar man and gunner. He belonged to the Tin Can Sailors Organization. In civilian life, he was an automobile mechanic having been employed by the Cadillac-Oldsmobile Company in Boston, the Harold Parker Ford Agency in Braintree and Plaza Olds of Braintree. He was the husband of the late Mildred Tilton (Norley) Zahn who died in 1995. He was the devoted father of Gregory S. Zahn married to Susan Zahn of Sarasota, Fla., and Daniel H. Zahn married to Kristine Zahn of Weymouth. He was the loving grandfather of Michelle Capello, Steven Zahn, Andrea Zahn, and Jay Zahn. He was the great-grandfather of Kelsey Capello. Daniel was the brother of the late Arthur and Frederick Zahn. Visiting hours at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home, 516 Washington Street, Braintree, Thursday, October 1, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. Funeral service at the funeral home at 1 p.m. Thursday.
