Danny Mancini Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 2, 2024.

Danny L. Mancini, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at home September 1, 2024 at the age of 77, surrounded by his family. Born in 1947 to the late Dominic and Irene Mancini, Dan grew up in Sidney, New York, where he graduated from Sidney High School in 1965. A talented athlete, Dan excelled in multiple sports, but it was on the baseball diamond where he truly shined. Known for his powerful hitting, he earned the nickname "Moose," and his 1963-64 baseball team was inducted into the Sidney High School Hall of Fame in 2011.

After high school, Dan attended Chamberlayne College in Boston, where he earned his degree before beginning a long and successful career at Amphenol Aerospace. In 1969, Dan married the love of his life, Jan Farmer, of Walton, New York. Together, they shared 55 wonderful years filled with love, laughter, and travel, exploring 17 countries side by side.

Dan was a man of many passions. He was a gifted woodworker who loved crafting and creating with his hands. Not only did Dan build his family's home in 1972, but he built a second home next door for his beloved parents. His skills were also put to good use beautifying the grounds of Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine, where he was a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, and was honored with the Saint Kateri Service award. He was also very well known for his cooking skills, which he perfected through his classes at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. His world famous spaghetti bolognese and meatballs, as well as salsa were just a couple family favorites. But above all, Dan cherished time spent with Jan and their family. He was a devoted father and grandfather who never missed an opportunity to support his children and grandchildren in their many activities.

Dan is survived by his loving wife, Jan, and his daughters and their husbands, Michele & Stephen Benton of Niskayuna and Julie & William Baaki of Amsterdam. He also leaves behind a legacy of love in his cherished grandchildren: Emilie (Philip) Flory, Christian Baaki, Nicholas Benton, Isabella, Andrew, Xavier, Gemma, Liam, Teddy, and Sophia Baaki. Additionally, Dan enjoyed spending time with his cousins, Marie (Tony) Petitti, Ann (Mike) Santogatta, and Rocco (Tina) Mancini.

Dan will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched. His life was one well-lived, full of love, service, and adventure.

At the family's request, services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made in Dan's honor to Our Lady of Martyrs Shrine in Auriesville, New York.

I am sorry to read about Danny´s passing. I had the chance to meet Danny while he and his wife were visiting their daughter Michele in Luxembourg. A few monthes later he showed me some nice places in NY and Sidney. Only good memories. My condoleances.

Very sorry to learn of Danny´s passing. Danny lived his life as God intended - with love for family while thinking of others. It was always "Dan & Jan" following Michele and Julie. Great times. Please accept my condolences and know he was a great human being who will be missed.
