Danny Stringer Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 8, 2013.
Danny" Dan" Stringer, 56, of, Smithville, MO, passed away September 8, 2013. Funeral service will be 10am Friday September 13, 2013 at Winnwood Baptist Church 4513 N. Jackson, Kansas City, MO 64117, with burial to follow at 2pm at Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo, MO. Visitation will be 5-8pm Thursday September 12, 2013 at the church. Danny graduated from Winnetonka High School in 1975. His love of old cars started in high school when he and his dad restored a '38 Chevy together. Over the years he would buy and restore a '55 Chevy, a '32 Ford coupe, a '49 Chevy truck, a '37 Chevy coupe, a '37 Chevy sedan and a '64 Chevy Belair. His wife, Nancy, drew the line when she came home to find a 1 ½ ton pickup truck in the driveway. She said even if he restored it, it would still be an eyesore. Danny belonged to the Show-Me Rods Club and the Midwest Pickup Club. Danny studied and became a sought after expert on WWII weaponry. Danny was an avid or perhaps rabid Missouri fan. His first pets were appropriately named Tiger and Mizzou. He played classical guitar and had a beautiful voice…he loved Harry Chapin, ZZ Top and anything that qualified as an "oldie". Danny was a writer. His stories were normally mysteries. He also wrote children's stories for his great nieces. Danny was an avid reader of the paranormal, both fiction and non-fiction but he spent the majority of his reading time with his Bible. He was a deacon at Winnwood Baptist and taught both youth and pre-school Sunday school for many years. He had a warm heart and a deep love for the Lord. He retired from KCP&L in 2012. Dan was preceded in death by his father Sam Stringer. Survivors include his loving wife of 26 years Nancy Stringer of the home, his mother Carol Stringer, sisters Teresa Turner (Todd), and Connie Kanatzar (Mark), nephew Jason Ross (Janet), niece Kelley Huonker, great nieces Paige and Taylor Ross. He is also survived by uncles Bill Kennard (Zelma), Bob Kennard (Carol) and Jim Kennard (Donna), aunts Pat Morrison (Buster) and Linda Daniels (Tom) and many cousins. Danny is also survived by many of his in-laws, the Karr family, who became a loving second family to him. Donations are suggested to Wayside Waifs 3901 Martha Truman Rd., Kansas City, MO 64137, (816) 761-8151, where Danny adopted all his pets.
