Darcy de Vere Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 7, 2024.
It's with the heaviest heart that we share the passing of Darcy de Vere, who fought his short but fierce battle against cancer with courage and grace until November 6, 2024.

For 20 incredible years, he was Stephanie's partner and best friend. Together, they explored the world, raised a family full of love, and built a life overflowing with unforgettable moments. He was the best dad to Eric and Aylin, who brought him endless pride and joy. Watching them grow into the amazing young people they are was his greatest accomplishment and source of happiness.

He was the beloved son of Vivian and Derick and little brother to David. His family extended to Lindsey, Wes, Luke, Anya and Shelagh, who loved him like a brother, and to his nieces and nephews-Connor, Keira, Colin, Emma, Colter, and Caiden-who brought him so much pride and joy. He was even welcomed as an honorary Koskamp, a rare and hard-earned title that speaks volumes about him. He had cousins, aunts and uncles spread across the globe who adored him.

He was a true buddy to his lifelong friends, Mark, Jocelyn, and Brad, and was instantly embraced by Stephanie's childhood friends, who trusted him as one of their own. When it came to our 90s basement band crew, he was hands down the best groupie anyone could ask for. He was often the life of the party and showed up with Fireball and fireworks.

Darcy could do anything. He was a jack-of-all-trades who somehow (mostly) mastered everything he tried. He was kind, patient, wise, and funny as hell. Life without him will never be the same.

We want to send a heartfelt thank you to Yvonne, Ralph, and Teetee, who have been there for us through thick and thin, especially in these tough times. Also, we appreciate the incredible nurses and doctors at KU and St. Luke's Hospice House. Thank you for taking such compassionate care of Darcy.

He will be missed deeply, loved forever, and remembered always.

A Celebration of Life will be held November 22 from 6-10pm at Berries + Honey - 519 E Red Bridge Rd. Kansas City, MO 64131. Please stop in anytime, kids are welcome and encouraged to come. Appetizers and a bar service will be available. In lieu of flowers or gifts please consider donations to Amethyst Place in Darcy's honor.

I am so sorry for your loss. I had the opportunity to meet Darcy a few times as he was working on his real estate business and I enjoyed our conversations. He was always kind.

I´m sorry to say I didn't have the chance to get to know Darcy very well, but I was fortunate enough to cross paths with him through our school community and the girls´ soccer team. Even in those brief interactions, it was clear how much he loved and supported his family. His warm smile and kind words for the kids left an impression, showing his gentle and caring nature. I am deeply sorry for your loss. May our community come together to support you, Aylin, and Eric during this difficult time.
