Darla J. Crane, 59, passed away December 25, 2022, at Elkhart General Hospital. She was born September 24, 1963, in Mishawaka.

On June 14, 1980, and then again on June 30, 1996, she married the love of her life, Charles Crane Jr.; he survives along with 3 children, Charles Crane III, Autumn (Billy McClendon) Hershberger, and Morgan McClure. Also surviving is her mother, Carol (Leonard) Nichols, 6 grandchildren, Charles IV, Jacob, Kaylee, Khloe, Kassidy, Kamryn, a special aunt, Sandra Frame, 3 brothers, Raymond Weaver, Danny Weaver, Michael (Amy Wilkey) Campbell, a brother-in-law, Steve Pontius and a sister-in-law, Cindy (Davis) Gleason.

She was preceded in death by her father, Raymond Weaver, in-laws, Charles & Juanita Crane Sr., sister-in-law, Connie Pontius, grandparents, Harvey & Ruth Weaver and Charles & Cleo Blasko.

Darla attended PHM schools, graduated with honors from Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and became a Registered Nurse. She began her career at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, then went to the old St. Joseph Hospital in Mishawaka and finally at Elkhart General Hospital.

She truly enjoyed traveling, going on vacations, and even visited over 40 of the U.S. states. Most important to her was her family. She cherished every moment spent with each one of them especially her grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 3-6 p.m. Monday January 2, 2023, with a celebration of life service beginning at 6 p.m. at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home.
