Judith Kay Kruse, age 74, passed away peacefully on November 11, 2022 after battling ALS.
She was born on December 28, 1947 in Newton, Kansas to Willis and Lucille Andres.
Judy grew up on a wheat farm just outside Newton, and loved to regale her family with tales of
her adventures on the farm with her sisters, Janice and Jane. She attended Kansas State
University, where she earned an Associates degree in horticulture and met her future husband,
Alan Kruse. They married in 1968 and moved to Colorado in 1973, where they raised their four
children. Judy was a talented seamstress, home-maker and dedicated super-mom who loved
to take her family on camping and skiing trips in the Rocky Mountains.
After a divorce in 1987, Judy’s love of airplanes drew her to the aviation industry, where she
entered the workforce in the aircraft maintenance sector at Colorado AeroTech. In 1990, she
moved her family to Phoenix, Arizona, where she lived for 9 years. Many career advances later,
and a with a move to San Francisco, California, she was managing aircraft sales for Bank of
America in their leasing division. She would happily tell us exactly what kind of plane was in the
sky with a single glance.
She was an adventurous and wise soul who loved to travel, camp under the stars, explore the
desert, and spend time at the beach, always with family and friends surrounding her. She was
extraordinary in the friendships she made and nurtured. As a grandmother she was infinitely
patient, playful, and loving.
She was diagnosed with ALS in February 2022, after experiencing symptoms which began in
the summer of 2021. She continually had a positive attitude and sense of humor in the face of
the brutal disease that is ALS.
Judy is survived by her four children, Camille Schneider (Peter), Angela Kruse, Allison White
(David), and Jesse Kruse (Sana); and five grandchildren, Ashley and Aubrey Schneider, and
Isabella, Evelyn, and Aiden White, whom she loved more than anything. She is also survived by
her sister, Jane Powers.
There will be a private ceremony to scatter her ashes in the places she loved. Donations “in
memory” may be made to the ALS Association at als.org or By the Bay Health (hospice) at
bythebayhealth.org

I worked with Judy selling and leasing commercial aircraft. Judy would approach matters with a ready smile and a can-do attitude no matter how challenging the task. She had a logical approach and was a nice person to be around.
Judy will be missed. My condolences to her family.

Judy was a good friend. She always had a smile for you, especially if you needed one. After graduating from NHS together, in 1965, we didn't cross paths much except at an occasional Railer reunion. Condolences and prayers for the family.

We will never forget the memories we created over our 60 years of friendship. May we met again one day. Rest in peace.

Judy was a friend who I met while I was an airplane rep at Dynair in Phoenix. We were friends due to our association with airplanes and our experiences on the ranch/farm. My family is from the Paso Robles area and I ran into Judy and her family during Pioneer Day in 2012. I also got her to visit my aunt's ranch in the area where we took a tour through the fields and mountains. She really felt at home on the ranch. As time went by we gradually lost touch but remained friends. I have included two photos of Judy sitting in the Captains seat of a DC-10-30 I was responsible for and one of Judy and some of her family at a Paso Robles Pioneer Day parade. My condolences to her family.

My prayers are with you Camie, Angie, Allison and Jesse. Your mom was like a mom to me for so many years. All my childhood memories are centered around your family. The camping, ski trips, the zoo and just being at home with your family. The amazing garden, clothes drying on the line outside, her fried rice with those baby shrimp. I still can't make it like she did, and I have tried. She was always so supportive of our adventures, our "shows". Our barbie doll play and our home skating rink in the basement. She shared her love of 50's 45 records and her love of John Denver. I can't listen to his music or see him in an old movie with out thinking of Judy. When I became a mom.. I wanted to be a mom just like she was. But her shoes were hard to full. I love you all so much. I am so sad for you all. But I can't help but smile when I think of your amazing mom.

We were neighbors with Judy and her family in Longmont, Colorado. Those are some of my happiest memories as our Genevieve and Allison were good friends. Jesse and our Stuart were also good friends. The kids would invade her house for days at a time planning and putting on elaborate musicals and jokes. The neighbors up and down the street were invited with Mrs. Thompson making cookies and Judy making lemonade. The kids would pop in and out of their upstairs and Angie would appear out of a downstairs window! There was always an encore with Judy leading the call for more, more. She was a wonderful caring neighbor and there was no doubt she loved her children. Rest in peace.

Judy was a very special person whom I came to know better over time. I always looked forward to the times we would both be in Newton. The world still seems to be smaller since she left this life for a better one. We'll surely see each other again.
