My heart goes out to the McKelvy Family, I have truly lost a dear friend. They say people come into your life for "A Reason", "A Season", or "A Lifetime". I can truly say Darlene was that rare "Lifetime" friend. From elementary school till adulthood. What a special journey it has been. REST IN PEACE MY DEAR FRIEND !!

My heartfelt condolences to the McKelvy family. I was devastated to read of Darlene's passing. I last saw her at my school leaving postcards about a retirement workshop for teachers. She and I talked about taking a trip to New York together. Unfortunately, we never did. On the day of her services, I was attending the funeral of a former Woodson co worker and missed the obituary notice in the newspaper. Darlene was among the group of 8th graders I taught my first year at Woodson Jr. High. Darlene's beautiful smile and wonderful personality will always be remembered. I feel very privileged to have taught her at Woodson and to have seen her become a very productive citizen of the world. May God continue to comfort you.

To the McKelvy family. Our prayers are with you at this time. When I think of Darlene, I can only remember her wonderful smile (always) and incredible encouraging spirit. She was truly a blessing to everyone who met her. Fondest memory is when she was a Cheerleader and we were majorettes in the class of `81. We celebrate your legacy Darlene and will keep Tabitha and your family lifted in prayer.

My name is Kim Jones and I was just informed of Darlene's passing. My condolences to the McKelvey Family. Stay strong in prayer, and God will give you all the strength you'll need through these times. I was great friends @ Woodson with Darlene as well as Kelvin and Melvin. Lots of wonderful memories. I need not tell you what a positve person she was. So full of life, and she wouldn't let you be around her any other way. I hadn't seen Darlene in a long time, but I wish you all only knew what an impression she left with me. What a lost to earth but Heaven couldn't have chosen a better flower. Love Kim

I first met Darlene back in the neighborhood when we were kids. She was such a sweet person then, and throughout the years she never changed. From Jr High through highschool, Darlene was always the same delightful person that I had met so long ago. Although I had not seen her in some years, I will always remember her warm smile and kind words. Now as we mourn her passing, we must also give thanks that the Father has graced us with one of his special angels. Now that she has been called home to be with Him, we must not lower our heads in sorrow, but look toward the heavens...because that's where we'll she her. To the McKelvy family, I will keep you in my prayers for I too have lost a loved one. MP Jesse Jones c/o 1982

To Tabitha, Ms. McKelvy, Darlene's sister, and her brothers,
Words are truly not enough to explain all the things Darlene were and what she was to so many people. Beautiful Christian Godly Friendly Woman that was a very rare find. I am thankful to have not only attended church with Darlene but to also attend gatherings of friends were we laughed so hard. We all say that Wednesday was too soon, too quick, should not have happened to her but every one of us has an Appointed Time and only God knows that time. So, God knew exactly when, where, how, and at what time. Now, we that are still present on this side must follow in her footsteps and strive to be the Christian she was so that when our Appointed Time comes we too will be ready to hear God say Welcome Home Thy GOOD and FAITHFUL Servant! Darlene heard those words.

A Song for My Dear Cousin Darlene “The Struggle is Over Now”…
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believeth in Me, though he may die, he shall live. And whoever lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this? (John 11: 25,26). My dear family I know that this is a difficult time in our lives. Death of a loved one always cuts very deep. Please know that Darlene is truly loved. I will miss her dearly. My twin cousin...Even though she is not here presently with us; her spirit goes on. The love she has shown to us all will not easily be forgotten. Let us now show our love to the living and cherish the moments we have together. God’s promises “But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus. (I Thess. 4: 13,14). Aunt Mary, Tabitha, Vallissa, Melvin and Kelvin my condolences to you…Weeping may endure for a night, But joy comes in the morning. May God comfort your heart, mind and soul with His Perfect Love. I Love You All Very Much. God Bless You! Love Yvonne, Alexandria and Michael Jones

Saying Goodbye
HIS calling came from up high,
its hard trying no to say goodbye.
God must have thought you were special to take you away,
but couldn't he have waited for another day?
God’s looking after you now
high, high up in the sky,
Up there where all the angels lie.
You wouldn't have wanted me to make a fuss,
after all, you're still down here with all of us.
Just because I can't see you, doesn't mean you’re not here,
I know you are somewhere very, very near.
You are love by us all, but it is time to say,
"Goodbye My Friend".
Because your life here on earth has come to an end.
Rest in Peace...

To the family and friend of Darlene... my words of encouragement: "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might." Ephesians 6:9-11. I have always known Darlene (my classmate) by her BRIGHT smile. I believe I got to know her much better here in recent years. I remember when she joined the Silver Lake Church family. She had gone through my mother's new member orientation class. Upon seeing her in church, we exchanged phone numbers and chatted via phone and emails. I found Darlene to be sweet, caring, crazy and fun-loving. I will miss her most during my birthday, because she made it a point to attend my birthday gathering at Jax’s. My prayers are with her family especially Tabitha, we need to fully support her and pray she has a successful school year despite her loss. Darlene sewed seeds of smiles towards everyone, so from her demise a harvest of joy should be returned. The joy for me is that I got to know her better. My prayers go out to the entire McKelvy family.
