Darrell Smith Obituary
Evansville, Ind. - Darrell Smith, 70, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital.
Darrell was born in Gibson County, Indiana on June 6, 1949 to the late Dorris and Mary Louise Smith. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and retired from Azteca Milling after many years of service.
Darrell is survived by his children, Julia Lee of Owensville, IN, Jalia Pegram of Owensville, IN, Jeff Smith, Joseph Smith of Mt. Carmel, IL, James Smith and Jonathon Smith; siblings, Fred Smith (Margie) of Tolar, TX, Danny Smith (Mary Beth) of Princeton, IN, Georgia Schurmeier (Kent) of Princeton, IN, Stacy Wilderman (Mike) of KY, Matt Smith (Brenda) of Princeton, IN and Angie Mattingly (Keith) of Newburgh, IN; and many grandchildren.
Darrell was preceded in death by his wife, Martha Jean (Tipton) Hammond; his parents; and a sister, Sharron Williams.
The interment of Darrell will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, March 2, 2020, at Oak Hill Cemetery (Veterans Section) with the Gibson County Veterans officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to AseraCare Hospice, 8401 N. Kentucky Ave., Suite G, Evansville, IN 47725.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Golden Living Center Brentwood and AseraCare for all of their care and compassion given to Darrell.
