Columbus, Georgia- Former Marshall of Muscogee County Georgia/CW4 (Ret.) Billy Ray Weary Jr., 72 of 5044 Buena Vista Road, Columbus, Georgia died Monday, October 17, 2016. Funeral Services will be held Noon, Monday, October 24, 2016 at New Peaceful Missionary Baptist Church, 3628 Calvin Drive, Columbus, GA with Rev. J.W. Jones, Pastor officiating. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery according to Sconiers Funeral Home, 836 5th Ave., Columbus, GA. There will be no viewing of the remains. The family will receive friends from 1-3 PM, Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the funeral home. CW4 Weary was born May 19, 1944 in Washington Parrish, LA, the son of the late Willie Weary and Della Ray Bridges Weary. He was the former Marshall of Muscogee County Georgia and retired from the United States Army, as a CW4. He was a member of New Peaceful Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include three daughters, Sharrmaine Weary Curtis (Mark) of Columbus, GA, Heaven Watson of Gastonia, N.C., and Karen Weary of Atlanta, GA, three sons, Be Rae Weary of Gastonia, N.C., John Harris (Lakshun) of College Park, GA, and Billy Ray Weary III of Atlanta, GA, one sister, Lola Mae Weary Turner of Queens, NY., 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

This man was a very nice guy. Everybody I believe knew " Mr. Bill ". He was very friendly and it seemed like every time that you saw him, He always had his cowboy hat on. He used to come into Piggly Wiggly on Brown Ave. and he and I would always have conversations with each other. He always would tell me that " He was going to run for Marshall and he was going to have me working for him. He had plans to do things for the youth." It's hard to believe that He's no longer here with us in body but I believe that He will always be here with his good spirit. He will be missed. Minister Robert L. Kerns RIP " Mr. Bill "
