Darrol Jenson

Darrol Edward Jenson, 94, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025, in San Diego, California. A devoted father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Darrol lived a full and vibrant life marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family.

Born on September 15, 1930, in Grand Forks, North Carolina, Darrol moved to California during his youth and became part of the first graduating class of Chula Vista High School. Shortly after graduation, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Air Force on December 21, 1950. During his military service, he was stationed in England where he served honorably as a Senior Dental Specialist First Class until his discharge on December 4, 1954.

Following his military service, Darrol returned home and began a long and dedicated career with Prudential Overall Supply Company as a driver. He made history there as the company's first retiree-a milestone commemorated by the display of his uniform shirt in the lobby of the San Marcos office. Prior to that role, he worked for Golden Arrow Dairy delivering milk door-to-door-an early testament to his strong work ethic and commitment to serving others.

Darrol was a man who found joy in simple pleasures and meaningful connections. He loved camping and traveling-especially with Ida-as they explored new places together. Nature brought him peace and inspiration, which he often expressed through woodworking projects crafted with care. His home was filled with warmth during holidays and special occasions spent with family-moments he cherished deeply.

A passionate sports fan, Darrol followed baseball closely and remained a loyal supporter of the San Diego Padres. He also enjoyed cheering on the Chargers in football and never missed an opportunity to watch a good hockey game.

Darrol's faith was an important part of his life. He worshiped at First United Methodist Church of San Diego where he found community and spiritual grounding.

He is lovingly remembered by his daughters Michelle Denise Lopez and Rita Ann Kirby; grandchildren Marcian Magsino, Marlana Negado, Bert Magsino Julie Boyet, Joshua Kirby, Jennifer Kirby, Jeremy Kirby, Jonathan Kirby, Janell Marbrey, and Jamin Kirby; as well as seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense pride and joy.

Darrol was preceded in death by his beloved wife Anna Jenson and brothers Vernon Jenson, Gordon Jenson, and Earl Jenson.

Those who knew Darrol will remember him as a loving father, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, friend-and above all-a man who valued family above all else. His legacy lives on through the generations he helped shape with love and guidance.
