Darwin "Glade" Wilson, beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, passed away peacefully with his loving wife of 47 years by his side on March 5, 2011. He was born May 5, 1944, in Provo, Utah, to Darwin T. and Ollie Davis Wilson. He married Karen Gordon on June 15, 1963, in the Manti LDS Temple. Glade's family moved to Payson, Utah, where he attended Jr. High & High School. During high school Glade belonged to the FFA and was on the high school football team. He graduated from Payson High School in 1962. Glade worked as the Harbor Master at the Provo Boat Harbor for 4 years, until the state turned it into Utah Lake State Park. He then worked for the Provo Police Department for about 14 years. During that time he also worked security for the Osmond Family. After leaving the Provo Police Department he and his family moved to Wyoming where, for the next 25 years Glade worked as an operator and maintenance in several gas plants. The first winter in Wyoming Glade said, "During the winter in Wyoming you get tough In 2003 Glade had it with the cold Wyoming winters. He came home one day and said, "I'm as tough as I am going to get and I'm not ready to die." So he and his wife moved to Central Point, Oregon onto 5 beautiful wooded acres where he loved feeding birds and watching the wild life. Glade loved fishing, hunting and helping others, if someone needed a friend Glade was there. He loved spending time with his 15 grandchildren, who lovingly called him "Grandpa Grizz." He is survived by his wife Karen and 4 children: Jed (Lauren) Wilson, Engelwood , CO; Leslie (Joe) Flores, Orem, UT. Melanie (Terry) Clement, Central Point, OR. Quin (Erika) Wilson, Roseville, CA. He is also survived by a foster daughter Sharrie (Shawn) Tessman, Riverton, WY and 15 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild, sisters LeAnna (Albert) McClain, North Las Vegas, NV, Joyce (Robert) Thornton, Payson, UT, and brother Dale (Louise) Wilson, Morgan, UT , and his father-in-law Max Gordon of Spanish Fork, UT. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Randy Wilson. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, 2011 in the Aspen 10th Ward Chapel, 1546 North 1100 West, Orem, Utah. Family and friends may call from 9-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church. Burial will be held at East Lawn Memorial Hills Cemetery, in Provo, UT.
