A great mentor. Wise, constructive, and caring, he set up his students to succeed at Miami and after graduation. He had an impact on many of us and will be missed.

I am so sorry to hear about David's passing. David was a very valued colleague and friend to so many people at Miami, and his work impacted his students in such profound ways. My deep condolences go out to his family on his loss.

David was our neighbor when we lived in Ohio. He was kind to our kids, happy to help and offer a hand. We thought of him as more then just a neighbor and we are so grateful we got to know him. He would even stop and make the effort to go the extra mile with each one of our kids as individuals. Maybe even threw a couple of balls back in our yard without complaining! My husband, myself and our kids are very sad to hear this. He was a great man with many wonderful stories we all enjoyed hearing. He will be missed!

We knew David first as a neighbor. But then he helped me with a tree project he saw me struggling with in the back yard and from then on, it was as a friend. Wish I had time to get to know you better, David. Always with a warm hello that made you feel like everything was alright in the world. We’ll miss you David, the world is a better place I’m sure for your having been here and we are the better for it. So, so sorry to the family but we’re here as neighbors if you need anything in these coming weeks.

David was our neighbor and has been absolutely wonderful to know in the two years since we have lived next to him. He took loving care of his yard and pond and was always cheerful to talk to. He spoke fondly of his late wife, children and grandchildren. David - your light still shines bright in our hearts! We will always be grateful to have known you. See you again somewhere beyond the blue
