Uncle Dave was as much of an Uncle to me as any biological uncle could be. Although he was a busy and prestigious cardiologist, he always made time to talk on the phone or when some or all of the Abrams family came over to visit.
As a doctor, he was old school. He liked home remedies more than drugs and he was a straight shooter when it came to getting well. When I fell through a glass table and got stitches in my knee as a kid, he let me know that it was going to hurt for a few days, then itch more than hurt, and that I would have a great looking scar for life. When I developed acne as a pre-teenager, the dermatologists warned me not to eat certain foods, to eat other foods, and to take Tetracycline religiously. Uncle Dave told me not to worry about my diet, that Tetracycline wasn´t going to help, and that I would probably have acne on and off for another decade regardless of what I ate or what drugs I took. I followed the advice of the dermatologists. But Uncle Dave was right.
I think of him often when I walk past Northwestern hospital on my way to and from work. I will continue to do so in the years to come.

Dr. Abrams was just the sweetest man and spoke so eloquently in even just everyday conversation. Although, I've only really known him in retirement, I could only imagine what a great career he had in as a cardiologist. His dedication to his family was so apparent in how he cared for them. I will miss seeing him come to the salon to pick you up, Nancy!!! My deepest condolences to you and your sisters, and to Miss Barbara... I send so many hugs...truly a life well blessed... good bye Dr. Dave...love, Tina

Dave was my neighbor for over 20 years. He was a true gentleman and a great neighbor. Quick witted and bright, I will miss him and our driveway talks and banter. Rest in peace Dave for a life well lived. Our sincerest condolences to Barbara and the entire family.
