My dad was many things. He assumed many roles and had many interests. He had expertise in many areas. First and foremost he was a loving husband, who shared many a sunrise on the hill with our mom. To my sisters and me he was a wonderful father who stopped whatever he was doing to help us or to spend undivided time with us (unless his pager toned :)). He was a great son and a good brother. To his grandkids he was the best grampy, who took them exploring in the woods and chased them in the pool. He was a loyal friend. He was a forester, a tree surgeon, a fire fighter and a chief. He was a rural water supply expert, a forest fire fighting expert , a squad boss, a crew boss, a welder, a mechanic, an electrician, a carpenter and a furniture maker. In season, he was an expert blue berry picker, an expert clammer, an avid gardener. Recently, a proud maple syrup maker and bread and butter pickle maker. An outdoors man and a hunter. His hugs were the biggest and the best, he told a great story and loved a practical joke. He was an inventor. He was a patriot. He was a hard worker. And when I look back through my childhood, one of the themes that weave the fabric of my memories of him, is as a teacher. Thank you dad. I love you.

Wendy, my thoughts are with you and your family in this sad time. I will miss my conversations with Dave at the post office or the lovely conversations between myself and you both while working at Flatebread. I enjoyed knowing Dave, he always made me smile. He will be missed.

I will always remember running into Dave at the junction store, he would always talk to me, ask about others and all the while he was mistaken me for Amanda. He was always kind and had a great since of humor!

Dave, you were one of the best story tellers I've ever heard. I never tired of hearing about the crazy hunting trips or the wild fires you fought. You will be sorely missed, my friend.

Wendy and family.
Dave was a ball to have at hunting camp up here in Ripley Maine. He was more fun than anyone can ever imagine. We all enjoyed him and all the stories and lies we all swapped. He will be truelly missed by all of us in hunting camp. This Fall we plan to all shoot our guns in the air in his memory. From the "Bogan Beaters"

Dave, you were always "one of the best wildland firefighters "with whom I've had the pleasure of serving. You taught many of us "young firefighters " more than can be found in any books. I always knew we could overcome any situation as long as you were there. There isn't enough space to tell all the stories. We won't be able to walk into a forestry warehouse for an assignment without thinking of you.

David was a leader for all wildland fire fighters. He taught us new fire fighters about the world of wildland fires. He was a gentleman and inspiration for us all. No one will ever forget his stories about DOG WOOD , Moisa Diane . HEIMY or EGOR. He was an inspiration to us all and a leader for New Hampshire western fire crews.
