David was my best man friend, and I loved him dearly. He was always there for myself and my family. I'll never forget our fond memories especially the last time we walked on the beach at sunset and talked about everything, including his back pain. Still can't believe he is gone from all of his family and friends, but he surely is dancing in the stars of heaven and watching out for all of us, forever in my heart and memories, love Denise Dalmatoff Kasparoff

So many years of friendship and business adventures. Like the many friends you left behind, some of whom are listed here, I will always have so many fond memories of your love, kindness, optimism and enduring courage and friendship. I still think of you often and hope you are enjoying the life beyond as much as you enjoyed your life here.

David, from day one you took me in as part of the family, moving in next door to Jana really had its perks! Whenever we got together for a holiday event or annual street party, you certainly brought life to the party. I know you're watching down upon Dane and your special ladies, making sure they're doing alright. I'll do the same on this end. You will be missed my friend in so many ways, we'll meet up again at another date, remember I like kamakazis shaken. Love you.....

That smile, those kind eyes, that generous heart. David Baker, truly one of a kind. I'll always remember David's huge, incredible parties, always the place to be; "How you gonna do it if you really don't want to dance, by standing on the wall? Get your back up off the wall" ;-) I realize now that this was just the beginning of his many entrepreneurial endeavors. That cool van..cruising Main. I called David about a pool table, about 2 years ago, that was left in one of the hillside homes I had just sold; I thought it was an antique, maybe worth some money. David came and picked it up for me...he ended up telling me it was an antique, alright. Never told me it was junk until later; just took it to help me. He was so kind and caring. About a 16 months ago, I posted a flyer, on Facebook, for a blood drive and fund raiser for LA Children's Hospital. The 16 year old son of one of my dear friends was battling a rare form of cancer and was in need. David was the first to ask how he can help. I went to pick up a generous gift certificate he created for auction, we talked for hours that day; little did I know that this would be the last face to face encounter with David, my friend. David fought a courageous battle with a brave face, that huge smile ever present. David was loved and needed by all who were blessed to know him and he touched more lives than he ever knew. The Baker 13 ... Always in my heart. Cindy Jacobson

My first memories of David are of him skating backwards at The Roller Gardens in the mid 70's. Back in Sept, 1994, we spent an evening laughing and sharing stories. We couldn't help but notice EVERY song that came on the radio was a song that we all used to skate to way back when. That night is fondest memory of David ever! David was not only a great person, but a great friend as well. A few years back I found myself in a situation where I had to move within a few days. Posting and asking for help on Facebook, but noone was available during the week. My last day to move I received a phone call from David asking if I still needed help. I did, and he had a crew of men show up within 45 minutes. They had me out of the old and into the new (upstairs mind you) within an hour! David was my hero! I have heard several stories recently about how David help them when they were in need too. I will never understand why he had to leave us all and why he had to suffer like he did. He didn't deserve that. Nobody does really. The only reason I can come up with is that he was used to show people how to LOVE. To show the importance of FAMILY. To unite us all, strangers are now friends. Our common ground is Our Beloved Friend David. Friend, Father, Brother, Uncle and Son. Linda, Jana, Nellie, the entire Baker 13, I Love You All so much! David, My Friend, I will always Love You! You will forever have a place in my heart. May You Rest In Peace and THANK YOU for EVERYTHING! You will forever be missed. Blessingz, Laura

Dear Baker Family,
Words cannot even begin to express the sympathy we feel for your family. David was a well loved person by many here in Ventura! We can remember him flying thru the Skating Plus rink, like a dancer on wheels, jumping, dancing and skating incredibly! Then the fun parties, Crown Billards, and many contributions to the VHS Softball fields. We knew David since back in HS, and were happy to have known such a nice, fun loving person. May he LIVE on Forever in everyones memories.... God Bless you all Baker Family,

I met David in his Jaycee years ago about mid 80's . I was a single mom, divorced with two young wonderful children. His family opened there home and hearts to us so kindly so many years ago. My kids to this day still remember David. My son Travis use to run into David in the bars looking or should I say fishing for women and they would chat. David was always his own person. He always wore funny shoes. I remember David had a pair of Blue suade shoes. It was odd, but David didn't care. Because he was always true to himself. I use to work on Main street and often I would drive down Seaward and turn on Main Street and there was Bakers big fat smile jumping up and down. He would make sure I saw him being the silly person he was. That and his beautiful smile and family is what I will always remember. RIP my friend. Love Nancy Ferrell Barr & Family

Dear David, thank you for being such a good friend. You are thought of every day. When I think back about the times you and I would look at each other and burst at laughing because somehow we both knew we were thinking the same thing. And after verifying with each we were...we would double over laughing! Those memories always brings a smile to my face.:) You had a very special gift. You brought out the best in people. Love you!

I first met David at Aculpulcos restaurant when it was across from the government center. The Jaycees had their meetings there and I had just started to work for the County, so it was the hot place to be for happy hour. I remember his smile and eloquent way of speaking. I saw that same smile and eloquent speech in his son Dane during the eulogy at his father's service. It was amazing and breathtaking and I was so moved by the words he spoke. God Speed David and keep watch over all who love you.

David I carried you in my pocket to the top of Kilimanjaro to be closer to god. It was such a great moment for me to able to do this for you that it changed my life and made me realize how important family and friends are, they are what get us through life and all it's ups and downs. We live on this earth for such a short time and the good times are what sticks with us. I have many fond memories of you and now I see you through your son Dane and what a good kid he is. David I will always remember playing all the sports with you and competing with you in baseball. The one unforgettable time at lake Piru when we went water skiing together and I missed the toss of the keys at the boat ramp! One grueling hour later with a big magnet I still could not find your keys to the Van. Well you were still a good sport about it. I will miss your smile and kindness but more important I will always remember You!

The enthusiasm and joy of David Baker will be missed by the Nordskog family. David and I and a handful of others used to meet fairly regularly at Carrow's in Ventura for breakfast and fellowship and Bible study in years past. David was one of my loyal supporters and helpers in a significant role at the Powerboat Magazine Grand Prix North American Championships powerboat races and "festival" ---- he was such a sweet help to me back then in ninety five and the races in the autumn of ninety six --- and on our festival and race event Ventura Board of Directors. He always, without fail, from that time called me "Chief" since I was promoter of and overseer of that week-long event.... an endearing term he gave me personally. My adopted daughters were given "toy race car" rides outside of Crown Games and a large parking lot nearby when the children were young, by dear Dane -- and David. He was a consummate entrepreneur and always with a happy-face and upbeat. I love you Dave, you were and are special! Jerry Nordskog, Gail and children. Jude 24-25

I never knew David as well as I should of/ would have liked, I think we could have been great friends, having many things in common such as common buddies, motocross, basketball, and our main passion, our kids...he always greeted me with a big hello and that big smile. I always thought highly of him and respected him and even though we didn't cross paths often, he will truly be missed. Having just heard of his passing today after reading about his parents house fire, I feel a real loss and am feeling very sad for his family...they will all be in my prayers...David was a terrific person and someone I always called my friend even though we didn't see each other as much as we should have...he will truly be missed...

This is Jeff Pernas, meeting David some 25 years ago at a business meeting in LA, He invited me to come visit him in Ventura, from that point forward I found a true friend and new family of the Bakers. David shared many other true friends with me and I knew he was someone special. The fun times never seem to stop. Ok we did run into some ups and downs, in life but we were always there for each other. David always had the answer. As we both started families. David was there for my first daughters"Bibianny's birth and became her godfather. My Wife Lupita, Boys Brian, Brandon, Daughters Bibianny, Breeanna will always keep David in our hearts. We love him dearly, he is my rock.

First, you were my neighbor, then became my friend because your sister Linda was in my grade. You were always so very nice to me and I didn't know why because I was so shy and never said boo to you, but you still were. I thank you for being the Angel you were here on Earth as I know you are in Heaven. I will miss you.
June 24, 2014
How do I wrap up my feelings for the BEST brother anyone could ever ask for? I could go on and on, but it comes down to, I will miss EVERY thing about my brother, my friend, every minute of every day. I am proud that he was my big brother and I know that my life is better for having had David in it. I am beyond blessed to have been loved by David Baker! It gives me great comfort knowing that David had NO doubt how much I loved him and how highly I have always felt about him. He felt our entire family kept him on a pedestal. It goes without saying that David was a huge part of the Baker 13, our hearts have been shattered, NEVER to be whole again.
There were no "I Love You's" left unsaid, but a million "I Love You's" left to say. . . .
I LOVE YOU David!! Thank you for the memories, the laughs, and the tears.
With ALL my Love,

Where do I begin... David and I had so many classes together all through our school years from elementary school to High School, and our friendship continued on and on and on.. Skating together, cruising mainstreet, Indian Dunes and party after party with the brothers, joe jody and david, these men were unseperable?.... The services for David this past weekend were truly amazing, Dane's presentation of the Eulogy was so perfect not to mention the reading of the scriptures by the girls.. The priest was on point with everything he stated... David has an amazing son, he has 2 amazing sisters, he has amazing brother in laws and you all have amazing parents or inlaws or grandparents: Nellie and Curt; who I can see raised amazing adults. David was loved by so so many people and I am so thankful to have been part of his life and I am so thankful to have the Bakers as my friends. I will miss Davids infectious smile and his kind words but I know he will live on through everyone who loves him dearly. May you all find peace knowing David is watching over you. David is showing the heavens how to party.....RIP David Baker you will never be forgotten?

David Baker? you will be surely missed by all your family and friends. You my dear friend even though recent years have separated us that has never diminished that love and bond of friendship I have for you. I had some of the greatest times in my life with you in the Jaycees you were my fierce competitor but in the midst of it we became dear friends. I have so much to thank you for mere words alone are not sufficient to describe the loving affectionate person. David all I do know is God must need someone with the great organizational skills such as yourself up in Heaven. He must have needed the very best dear friend, I'm sure that's why He took you home so early. I love you David you will be sorely missed. Love your friend forever. Cristina Carreño? ?? I love you Linda & Jana thank you for all you've been to all of us. ??

You were always such an inspiritation to so many people, and touched us so much. I may not have time to visit with you in the last 15 plus years, but the years that I did spend knowing you will always be remembered. You have shown so many of us how strong each one of us can be, to keep the faith. You will be missed and always be loved. You are now at peace and walking among the greatest. God Bless you and Your Loving family.
