David Barrier Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 21, 2024.
David Barrier, Knoxville, TN, went to his Lord 04/10/24. Kind, positive, & ready to help anyone. David loved coaching & watching youth baseball. Telling his son and other ballplayers to "Dig, Dig, Dig", never give up. When the game was over, leave it on the field & do your best with the next time. Survivors: Nancy (Wife), Zachariah (Son); John (Brother) & Sara Barrier, Flora Barrier (Niece), Carter Marshbanks (Nephew); Mary (Sister) & Anthony Bove; Anna Bennett (Aunt); many friends from baseball & community. Service: Veteran's Cemetery Chapel (John Sevier Hwy) April, 26th at 8:30 am. No flowers. As long-term cancer survivor, David wanted donations to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (lls.org) or take part in Light the Night.

I remember David as a kid and the memory that stayed with me is of him having a spill on his red 5-speed Schwinn Stingray. It was not a small one and he insisted on laughing while I could see the discomfort on his face. He was very very intelligent/gifted and there were few people that bright who were equally as tough, quirky, and kind; he had a wonderful personality and a lot of integrity. We haven't spoken for years but I already miss knowing that he is still here.

Prayers and condolences to Zac and Nancy. David was a very kind person. He helped coach my son Adam for many years. Such a bright light in this world. So sad.

We grew up exploring the neighborhood ,on our bicycles and foot. David was the smartest one of us,a mad scientist. He was there for all of us,a giving, cautious, but curious guy.i will always remember how he changed, once he met his wife Nancy. That was his soul mate. Then Zach, their son came along and I will never forget David saying over and over, "my beautiful baby boy"... He was my friend and my brother. I'll always love and honor David Michael Barrier. I love you brother! Nancy and Zach,I am so sorry for your loss and I'm sorry I wasn't around more. God bless all of the Barriers . I know this is harder for you all than I can imagine. I'm sending love and prayers to all of you.

David Michael Barrier was born to the late Betty Faye Arnold Barrier and Ronald Lee Barrier on August 13, 1969. He graduated high school having never been absent but those who knew him knew he was often late . He served our country while being in the US Air Force. He enjoyed the outdoors while hiking, camping, and fishing. He loved Nancy and Zach dearly.
