CATAWISSA - David E. Bartholomew, 73, of 544 Southern Drive, formerly of Trevorton, passed away Thursday Jan. 22, 2009, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. He was in ailing health the past few years.
Born in Rockefeller Twp. on Jan. 15, 1936, he was a son of the late Henry F. and Mabel L. (Strausser) Bartholomew.
Dave was first married to the former Mary M. Konyar, who died Nov. 14, 1987. Later he married the former Sharon L. Richie, who died November 27, 1992. He then married the former Marie E. Meyer, who survives.
Dave attended the Trevorton schools.
Early in life he worked as a coal miner and retired as a truck driver.
He was of the Catholic Faith.
He was a member of the Teamsters Union.
In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Robyn and Gary Long, of Mifflinburg; two sons and one daughter-in-law, David Scott and Janet Bartholomew, of West Cameron, and Andrew Bartholomew, of Dornsife; one stepson, Mark Yurkiewicz, of Numidia; three grandchildren, Shanelle Long, Dylan Bartholomew and Brett Bartholomew; and one brother, Fred Strausser, of RR Selinsgrove.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Francis Bartholomew, Robert Bartholomew and Raymond Reed.
Visitation with the family will be from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick Church, 331 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton. A memorial mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church with the parish friar officiating.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Trevorton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Dave's Memory to, SPCA, 2801 Bloom Rd., Danville, PA 17821.
Funeral arrangements are by Robert G. Foust Jr. Funeral Home, 841 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton.
