David Bellerose Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 30, 2024.
David J. Bellerose, 86, beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully at his home in Cumming, GA on Thursday, December 19, 2024, after a period of declining health. Born on August 4, 1938, in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, David spent much of his life in Northbridge, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Northbridge High School as part of the Class of 1957.

David is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Joyce (Roberts) Bellerose. He also leaves behind his son Scott and daughter-in-law Kim of Sidney, ME, his son Daryl and daughter-in-law Marianne, and his cherished grandchildren, Jacob and Lindsay of Cumming, Georgia. David will be remembered by his grandchildren as a patient and kind grandfather. He loved to spend time playing when they were young and then to share the tales of his good old days with them as adults. David is also fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his family that he so loved and enjoyed. David was predeceased by his father Camille, his mother Elsie (Theberge), sister Pauline and brother Francis affectionately known as Pete.

A proud Navy veteran, David served at Quonset Point, Rhode Island, and Argentia, Newfoundland Naval Air Stations. Following his military service, he dedicated over 40 years to a career in manufacturing with General Electric and Timex in Ashland, Massachusetts. His work later brought him to North Carolina when the company-later known as Telechron-relocated. Throughout his career and life, David worked tirelessly to provide for his family and create opportunities for them.

David and Joyce spent 27 wonderful years in the coastal town of Southport, North Carolina, where they developed close friendships and became avid golfers. Their Southport home became a vacation destination for his family, where they created many fond memories. They recently lived in Maine for a few years before moving to Georgia in 2022. The family also shares great memories of summer days spent at their vacation cottage in Jamestown, RI, a home largely built by David and his father.

David lived a very active life, playing offense and defense for the undefeated football team during his senior year. He enjoyed raising animals, hunting, saltwater fishing, ice fishing, building houses, cutting firewood, hosting and attending family gatherings and most of all helping out wherever needed.

David's biggest joys were gardening and woodworking, both of which he excelled at and took pride in. His handcrafted woodworking pieces are now beloved keepsakes. If David wasn't in the garden or woodshop, he would enjoy watching his favorite do-it-yourself shows on public television or reading his favorite woodworking magazines. David loved to grab a beer with family or friends and talk about any or all of the above.

In accordance with his wishes no services will be held. A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to a charity of your choice in David's name.
