David Benavides

January 18, 1946 - October 23, 2024

David Benavides, a loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2024, at the age of 78, surrounded by his family. Born on January 18, 1946, Dave lived a life filled with adventure, laughter, and love. He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Cynthia (Burns) Benavides; his son Nicholas Benavides (Teresa); his daughter Gina Rosenberg (Marcus); and his five beloved grandchildren, Alexa, Avery, Maddox, Autumn, and Paxton.

Dave was a veteran of the United States Navy, an avid outdoorsman with a passion for hunting, fishing, and exploring the wilderness. For decades, he cherished time spent with friends at the farm, enjoying hunting trips and poker games. His regular bowling nights and his deep connection to the outdoors brought him immense joy throughout his life.

Even as a debilitating illness took its toll, robbing him of the ability to breathe fully, Dave remained steadfast in his humor, stoicism, and patient, kind nature. His greatest pride came from the legacy he left behind through his children and grandchildren. He lived a life that modeled love as a lasting legacy for generations to come.

Dave will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but the memories he created and the love he shared will remain with his family and friends forever. His family finds comfort in knowing that his legacy lives on through the lives he touched.

Dave became my stepbrother when I was 4, he was very special to me. I loved hanging out with him and my stepdad at the bowling alley, it was always a good time. I will miss him very much ! Love you Dave !

I met Dave shortly after Cyn & Dave met. Had many shared experiences . . . Went to clubs with Cyn & Dave back in the day. Dave was always smiling & bringing smiles to all! Dave was great at anything & everything he did!

Worked for Dave at his Home Improvement Company. No matter what issues arose, I never saw Dave get upset. He would just figure out a way to deal with any issues without a complaint at all.

Dave convinced me to go "Bow Hunting" with him, my one & only hunting experience. Early one cold night he picked me up and we drove for hours to one of his favorite hunting places. We were both dressed in camouflage with sprinkled deer scent, complete with face paint. I had no idea. Dave said "I´ll go down & around the hill and come back up and see if I can rustle something up to you. It was cold & dark and I had only gotten about 1 hour of sleep before Dave picked me up. Yes, I ended up sitting down & then laying down & then completely asleep, only to wake up to what I thought was the sound of a freight train coming right toward me. Of course it was a huge buck and before I could even stand up, it narrowly raced past me. 15 minutes later Dave made it back up to where I had been waiting and ask if I got a shot at it. If I would have been more together I could have fired off a few arrows, like I had tried, but at the time, I did not think of that. I said "No, I was caught off guard". Dave, in his normal non-judgmental way, said "Oh, he looked like a big one".
That was it. He never yelled at me for missing that opportunity which he worked so hard to create.

Long story, but the point is, I will Love Dave forever!
