I just heard the sad news about David. Rest in peace, old friend. I'll always remember our Thanksgivings together in Hanover, NH. You were a master at baking turkeys as well as climbing the tallest mountains.

Prayers to the Breashears family. I´m in Michigan and he inspired me to explore the Everest region. Dance with the greats up there DFB. . .

I saw that David died recently. I never met him but my husband and I lived next door to his mom Ruth in Sunnyvale when we were first married. We adored her and she gave us a copy of his book about the mountain. So sorry to hear that he passed away He was such a handsome and incredible person.

I have fantastic memories of working with David on the IMAX-format documentary film, "Kilimanjaro: To the Roof of Africa". After his massive success with the IMAX film, Everest, he wanted to do a film about Kilimanjaro because as he put it, Kilimanjaro is "everyman's Everest." He was a joy to collaborate with. He was also generous in not only spirit but with money. When I decided to train to cycle in the Leukemia Society's Century Ride in Lake Tahoe in 2001 he was one of the first to contribute to my campaign. He even warned me about the altitude in and around Tahoe and when I did suffer from altitude sickness he told me that "even I've had issues with altitude and not just on Everest." He was kind and a wonderful storyteller. This is us at the premiere of Kilimanjaro at the Houston Museum of Natural Science in 2002.
