Kind and loving memories of my very dear cousin David,
David had many friends in Dorset and around the Uk who we have not been able to inform, but he is now at rest in Mansfield Woodhouse cemetery next to his parents.
Lots of love Margaret x

I have just found out that David Butler passed away in May of last year.I tried phoning only to be told that number was not recognised. My late husband and David were friends as boys and attended The Brunts Grammar School in Mansfield, Nottinghamshire and they both studied science at University. When Bert and I married, David was our Best Man and, in 1961, he was a God Father to our 2nd child, Robert. Bert passed away in February 2015,but I kept in touch with David, enjoying many shared memories and chats. He will be sadly missed. Rest in peace, David. Olive and Robert

I was very sorry to hear about David. I worked with him at Throop Road and it was an incredibly formative time for me. What a mind that man had...so sharp and full of wit and inteliigence. He and Don Stringer formed a sort of double-act of sharp-edged comments - a sort of intellectual two Ronnies. David has a reputation for not suffering fools gladly but he was quite extraordinarily kind to me and I regret losing touch with him in his later years.

David and I were colleagues at Plessey (and all the various changes of Company name over the years), Templecombe, Somerset where David was the Chief Scientist. I was in the Engineering Department. David and I shared birdwatching as a hobby which we did during lunch breaks. Outside of work time we also visited reserves in the area. David's health has not been good in recent years and I was concerned when on several occasions I telephoned but was not able to leave a message as was normal. The final clue was when the number was not recognised. I am grateful for this opportunity to be able to record my appreciation of David's knowledge and companionship over the years.
