To Dear Joyce and all the Carter family,
I just recently saw an April 25th, 2015 copy of the Vancouver Sun and read the wonderful story about David and his interesting life. Though I did not know him very well, I do remember him as such a kind gentleman (at our family homes) and one half of a really lovely couple.
I have no doubt that David "will be badly missed" and am thinking of all the family at this sad time.
Most sincerely,
Rita Nash (daughter of "Charlie" and Bette Nash)

We were sad to hear about David's fall and subsequent passing from Nancy Coke, who introduced us to David and Joyce back in 1987 when Wanda arrived in Vancouver with Nancy and 2 other friends for a 2 month Physiotherapy placement. David and Joyce hosted us several times, lent us a table and dishes for our empty apt by English Bay and even a car once so we could go out to see Long Beach on VI, a real must in their eyes! The following year when I arrived back in Vancouver for my first job, again David and Joyce were there to help me get on my feet and just 9 months later hosted my bridal shower. My young naval husband also really enjoyed the Carter's company. We let them be an example or the type of adults and parents that we would like to strive to be. It is with great regret that we didn't see them as often as we would like over the ensuing years when we were busy raising our family on Vancouver Island but we always felt like we stayed in touch by sharing the newsy Christmas letters we both wrote and shared. David will be very missed.
