David M. Clore

David Mason Clore was born July 3, 1924 in Covington, Kentucky to Virginia Lee and Walter Kenneth Clore and passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 21, 2012. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. A man who was known for his strong work ethic, a great sense of humor, who possessed a tremendous love for family and a big heart for all of the little ones.

David grew up in Harlingen, Texas and began his studies at Texas A&I in Kingsville, Texas in May, 1941. He served as Assistant Business Manager of the South Texan, the college newspaper, and was a member of Kappa Sigma Nu fraternity. His college pursuit was interrupted by World War II. Like many young hardy males, he entered the service and achieved the rank of Second Lieutenant in the Army Air Corp from 1943 – 1947. During WWII, he served as a navigator, bombardier, and radar specialist. Returning to A&I after the war, David earned a BBA degree. David was also a member of the BPOE.

David was employed as a Special Agent and Chief of Intelligence for the Internal Revenue Service from 1949-1979. David was one of the first Sky Marshalls during the late 60's serving into the 70's when domestic hijackings were a regular occurrence. After retiring from the IRS, David worked as an Investigator from 1979-1994 for the Medicaid Fraud Unit of the Texas Attorney General's Office. High-Profile investigations that David participated in included: The Billie Sol Estes Fraud, Organized crime participation in Las Vegas casino operations as well as the Duke of Duval County.

He enjoyed his retirement and spent time watching old westerns, listening to musicals of his era and watching football. David loved to play golf and was delighted when some of his family members took up the sport. He always loved a good joke and spending time with his family.

David is deeply missed by his wife, Margery Clore, daughter, Glynis Hooper Davis, husband Brad, son Jeffrey C. Hooper, daughter Meredith L. Ellis, grandchildren Christian F. Ellis, Leah S. Ellis including great grandchildren Christian Mason and Bella. David is also survived by children from his first marriage, daughter Christine Clore Anderson, husband Bruce, son, David Edward Clore, son Andrew Lawrence Clore, daughter Susan Clore Slimp, husband Ron and grandson Tyler Bruce Anderson.

The family wishes to thank Granite Mesa Nursing Home, Marble falls, Fernel Tabora and Darla Czimskey for their loving care and support of David during the last years of his life. David is buried at Cook Walden Forest Oaks Cemetery in Oak Hill, Texas. Graveside services were held at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Memorial Park on Wednesday, October 24, 2012.
