I know it has been years since Dave passed away, but its never to late to pay my respects. Dave and I were classmates at Lisgar Collegiate and lived close to each other in Rockcliff Park, Ottawa. He had a wry sense of humour, quiet demeanor and loyalty for all his friends , Chris Lang, Mirsky, Dunlop etc. He made an impact on me, and I enjoyed the time we spent playing tennis and going to school. We miss you Dave!

Hi David, Sorry I missed you all these years. Sorry I did not get to know your wife and kids when you were here. I remember you were a lefty, and would always thrash me in tennis! Thanks for all the great tennis games they were great fun and you were an excellent player. I clearly remember your impossible backhand. I remember working on the oil rigs with you out west, and hitch hiking to LA to see Paul Skene (Skene the Bean) at his brother’s mobile recording studio. I remember getting chased by a "press gang" in Drumheller in the winter time because we did not want to work in -42 degree weather and I drove off the road in my VW bug! I heard you stayed in Calgary, I never knew!
David, thanks for the friendship, thanks for the memories, thanks for growing up with me. Thanks for being my friend.
With my love and best wishes and support to your children in this terrible time. Your father had more true friends than you know. To your wife I am so so sorry. I know David really well and can only imagine what a terrible loss this must be for you. My deepest sympathies. There is only one David Coates and he was a treasure to us all and his loss is a loss to us all.
