David Conover Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 29, 2024.
David Allen Conover, a resident of Orion Township, MI, passed away on November 20, 2024, at the age of 74, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Born on February 9, 1950, in St. Paul, MN, David spent his formative years in Davenport, IA. He graduated from West High School in 1968 and attended Blackhawk College.

In response to the Vietnam War draft, David enlisted in the United States Air Force, where he received a Top-Secret Security Clearance after training at Lackland AFB and Lowry AFB. His service included assignments at Dillingham AFB in Hawaii and McClellan AFB in California, culminating in an honorable discharge on August 22, 1975.

David's career spanned various government roles, leading him and his family to Seattle, WA, Albuquerque, NM, and Austin, TX. In 1992, he transitioned to the automotive industry in Michigan, ultimately retiring in 2020 as Vice President of Operations and part owner of Debron Industrial Electronics.

David was a devoted family man, survived by his wife of 55 years, Signe (Hilmo), and their two sons, Jeffrey A. Conover (Melissa) and James A. Conover (Andrea). He was a proud grandfather to Chelsea, Caitlyn, Zakary, Noah, Alexa, Raelynn, and Luke. His cherished Shichon, Zoey, provided comfort during his recovery from chemotherapy.

An avid sports enthusiast, David enjoyed coaching T-ball and Little League baseball. He also loved traveling across the United States in his RV, having visited 46 states before his illness.

David was laid to rest with military honors at the Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, MI, on November 27, 2024. The family requests that memorial contributions be made in his honor to the Tunnel to Towers Foundation (www.t2t.org).

Never met Dave but worked with his wife for many years who is a sweetheart. He was probably just like her. Rest in peace and god bless the family during this difficult time.
