Col Sir David William Perceval COOKE

Many years ago at Buller Barracks the Movement Control Officers' Club held at Ladies Night. My daughter (aged about 16 at the time) attended her first Ladies Night. Col David was Chairman at the time. Victoria our beloved daughter behaved impeccably throughout the dinner; afterdinner when the dancing had started. she disappeared briefly only to re-appear sporting a large pair of Garfield slippers as her feet were sore. David charged her with being improperly dressed and fined her a dance with him. 10/10 for both parties I reckon.

A very special man, a fine officer and a thoroughly good egg. My sympathy to his family and may he rest in peace.
