ABINGDON – David Paul Cullop, age 55, of Enterprise Road, passed away Sept. 11, 2005, at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon.
David was born on Aug. 17, 1950, and was a lifelong resident of Washington County, Va. David was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served in Vietnam. He was formerly employed at Bristol Compressors and Dana Corporation before his retirement due to illness. David enjoyed being active and very much loved the outdoors lifestyle.
Survivors include his parents, Paul E. Cullop and Minnie Widener Cullop; and two brothers, Jerry W. Cullop and Larry L. Cullop and wife Tracy, all of Abingdon.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service, with the Rev. Dennis Banks officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Main Street Chapel. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Virginia Highlands Fellowship Church Honor Color Guard.
Pallbearers will be Phil Fleenor, Giles Burke, Keith Harrison, Mike Stigers, Rick Widener and Gary VanHuss. Honorary pallbearers will be Gray Jones, Bryan Cullop, Stewart Thomas, Tommy Goodman, John Smith, Charles Roark, Sam Dolinger, Andrew Dolinger, Tim Graham, Jeff Necessary, Mac Clifton and Roy Fleenor.

I am so sorry to learn of David's passing.

Alice Flenor had called me and said he was very ill.

Iam sorry this is late, we were out of town and just got home today.

Please accept our sincere sympathy for your loss. We only knew David a short time, meeting him during the hospitalization and impending death of Leon Salyer, but we considered him our friend.
