David C. Curtright, Jr.

Born November 6, 1965, to parents David Curtright and Karlene Hunger Curtright, David Jr. passed away at the age of 59 on August 30, 2025, after his struggles with progressive health conditions.

David is survived by his wife, Kathleen Blaylock Curtright of Stockton, CA; sons Brendon and Nicholas Curtright of Stockton, CA; sister Denyse (Elaine) Curtright of Citrus Heights, CA; and brother, Ken Curtright of Citrus Heights, CA.

David graduated from Del Campo High School in Carmichael, CA in 1983. He moved to North Dakota with his parents in 1983. He worked at Kettleson's OK Hardware in Montana while attending Williston State College.

He moved back to California in 1986, where he worked in construction until he enlisted in the US Navy in 1987. While in the Navy, he was an Operations Specialist on the USS Missouri, based in Long Beach, CA. He was deployed to the Persian Gulf War in 1991. After the war, he was honorably discharged in June 1991.

Dave began dating Kathleen in 1989, when he was stationed in Long Beach. They were married on August 3, 1991, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sacramento, CA.

David and Kathleen lived in Manteca, CA, where Kathleen had started teaching in 1989. David attended Delta College while starting his career in the Automotive Business. He became a Service Trainer for CSK (Wheelworks). He also worked as a Service Advisor at Saturn of Fremont, then Oakland Auto Center.

In 1995, they moved to Stockton, CA, where they raised their 2 sons. He enjoyed attending their many extracurricular activities including Boy Scouts, Band, Karate, Track, Wrestling, and Cross Country.

He worked as a Transportation Security Officer, primarily at the Stockton Airport from 2007 until 2022, when he had to retire early due to his kidney disease.

David enjoyed hunting and archery. He was skilled at baking, candy making, and origami. He also enjoyed playing the drums. Most recently, he was a member of the Praise Band at St. Andrews Lutheran Church.

A memorial service in celebration of David's life will be held at St. Andrews Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont Ave. in Stockton, CA on Saturday, October 4 at 2 pm.

Kathleen and family, I enjoyed visiting with Dave when we flew out of Stockton on Allegiant. It made me smile knowing a nice TSA agent. The tympani is my favorite percussion instrument and I loved hearing Dave play them, especially Reformation Sunday. My last thoughts are he and Rahab. They became good friends. She has a great taste in good people. I will miss him. May his memories bring happy thoughts and may God bring you peace.

I really enjoyed working with David at Grand Auto both in Manteca and then Livermore. We commuted together for a couple of years while working in Livermore and had many great conversations while stuck in traffic. I'm so sad to read of David's passing.

Sincerely,
David Rich.
