David Royce Daughtry

Services for David Royce Daughtry, 76, of Chandler, will be held on Friday, June 24, 2016, at 10 a.m. at Stewart Family Funeral Home with Pastor Dustin Slaton officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 9 to 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at Rose Lawn Cemetery in Tyler under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

David passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Tyler.

He was born February 12, 1940, in Mount Pleasant to Lunor and Eula Daughtry. He was the youngest of eight children.

He was a devoted Christian and member of Green Acres Baptist Church. David served in the U.S. Army as a German translator. After completion of his service, he attended Texas A&M College of Engineering and earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1968. David retired from CB&I where he worked as the manager of Project Engineering.

David enjoyed teaching math to his students at East Texas Literacy Council, and volunteering at the East Texas Food Bank. He was also a talented artist, capturing the beauty of all God's creatures through his art. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with his wife. David's quick wit and loving nature will be missed by all those who knew him.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, J.O. Daughtry, Lanier Daughtry, Leon Daughtry, Lowell Daughtry; and sisters, Doris Ann Rains, Sue Lawrence and June Gabriel.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Gloria Brown Daughtry of Chandler; children, Brian Daughtry and wife Becky of Chandler and Amy Garner and husband Blake of Katy; grandchildren, Brilee and Noah Daughtry and Andrew and Sydney Garner; mother-in-law, Mozelle Brown of Tyler; and several nieces and nephews.
