I remember meeting Dave in grade school when his family first landed in Ontario. Hit it off right away. Spent hours playing shinny at the outdoor rink in winter and lacrosse in the summer. Became almost inseparable as I spent hours at the Delorey household in Ontario. Learned to drive together, with and without permission. Stayed for a week at CFB Comox with Dave. Proud to say Dave was my closest friend, even dropped him off at Trenton to embark on his Military career.

I met Dave and Daphne on a saturday morning, back in the 90's. I had taken my rottie (Phoebe) to the saturday dog walk and there, parked in his truck was Dave, Daphne and an adorable little baby rottie, named Quattro. I went over and introduced myself and my dog. Dave truly loved his dogs and through his love of dogs is how we all became friends. Quattro and Phoebe also became best buddies. After Quattro and Phoebe passed, I got Sugar and Dave and Daphne got Donner, again both were rottweilers. By this time Dave was already sick but he still enjoyed Donners' attention so much. Daves' face would light up when Sugar and I stopped in for a visit.
Dave also loved motorcycles. He'd have the biggest grin from ear to ear when he felt good enough to take his Harley out for a spin. He's sometimes stop and have a quick chat with Daphne and I, give the dogs some lovings and then be on his way again.
Daphne was a huge part in taking care of Dave. She made sure he had his medications, food or his special protein drinks. Daphne also made arrangements with veterans services to help support and care for Dave. When he was too sick to stay home, Daphne spend day and night in the hospital with him making sure he was as comfortable as possible. Daphne and his brother Brian were by his side when Dave left this world. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Daphne and all of Daves' family and friends.
