Today the world seems a little less bright, a little less cheerful, and a little less fun. Today we woke up to a world with Dave DeRosa no longer among us. In his way too short, 46 years of life, he managed to touch us all, and make us love him with infectious smile, and permanently positive attitude. As a good friend and neighbor said of Dave, God really took a good one today! None of us here, in all his circles of friends and family could ever say a bad word about him. Everybody truly loved Dave! He was the guy who you could always count onfor ANYTHING! When a neighbor or friend was in any kind of crisis, Dave was the first one to respond with much needed assistance, and he did it with his ever-present smile, and gave you all the confidence that the crisis was take care of. I've known Dave for only 10 short years, and in that short time I have several recollections of Dave doing just that, including checking on my wife's condition after she was involved in a car accident on 422, with Dave just a few cars behind her, and coming to the aid of a neighbors' daughter, just a couple of weeks ago, when they out of town, except for the daughter, and their hot water heater burst and began to flood. I am sure that every one of us could tell many of these stories, and we could be here for a very long time extolling his virtues and what a wonderful person he was. When things like this happen that we just can't understand, we try to rectify it in our heads and say things like, it was just his time because we just cannot come up with the word or reasoning to make sense of it all. My personal takeaway from this, is live by Dave's example. Live life to the fullest, as he did, as an honor to him. As I was looking on his Facebook page, at the photos and the outpouring of loving comments from all the people in his life, in the past 24 hours, I could not help but notice 2 things. Once again, his ever-present smile, and the fact that he truly did live a full life. We all benefited from knowing him for whatever too brief period that we did, but he touched us all by cramming in lots of experience, travel, good will, and laughter. I feel blessed to have known Dave, and will honor his memory, by trying, as he did, to thrust into each day with zeal and humor, as if it were my last, because someday it will be. Dave was a wonderful father, husband, son, neighbor, teacher, runner, and most of all, person! God speed my friend!

Going to miss you greatly, brother. I know we are not actual brothers, just a common last name... but I definitely feel like a brother to you.
I have a lot of great high school, college and early family memories from you. We each had a lot of responsibility lately, thankfully we hit a few concerts and weekend dinners with the group lately.
Always supportive, amazingly upbeat, and a great father, husband and friend to all that new him.
A great loss, one of our best has moved on, and I'm sure he's running a 10K in a better place, teaching them all patience, self-perseverence, and the joy of a good laugh.
