David DeVeau Obituary

David Herbert DeVeau, 37, of Tobique First Nation, New Brunswick, Canada, and formerly of Terre Haute, died unexpectedly on Sunday, June 15, 2008. He was born Feb. 4, 1971, in Bridgeport, Conn., to John C. DeVeau Sr. and Linda Halstead DeVeau. He was employed as a security officer with Lucky’s Entertainment Centre (Casino) in Tobique. Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Linda and Dennis Clark of Terre Haute; a son, Deven DeVeau-Lennon of Tobique; a daughter, Stormi Lee DeVeau of Linden, Ala.; two brothers, John C. DeVeau Jr. and his wife Tammy of Caribou, Maine, and Joshua DeVeau and his wife April of Terre Haute; a half sister, Janet Francis of Woodstock, New Brunswick, Canada; his grandmother, Anita Halstead of Terre Haute; and aunts, Jean Spencer of Terre Haute, and Arlene Sappier of Tobique; aunt and uncle, Marlene and Carroll Shumate of Tobique; uncles and aunts, John Mark and Marie Halstead of St. Louis, Allen and Norma Saulis, and Ruben and Sue DeVeau, all of Tobique; special friend, Amy Moulton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his father.He was a U.S. Army veteran and was a member of Maliseet Band of Tobique First Nation, New Brunswick, Canada. A U.S. military funeral was June 20, 2008, at St. Ann’s Church in Tobique, with the Rev. Curtis Sappier officiating, Burial was in St. Ann’s Cemetery, also in Tobique. There was a prayer service and the rosary was read.
