I worked occasionally with David while he was at RBNZ and was shocked to read of his passing. He was very kind and gentle with quiet wisdom. I wish I'd known of his joy for gardening - a passion neither of us realised we shared.

Dear Jill and family, I was so shocked to hear the news. I worked with David at NZMP in Wellington and thought a lot of him as a boss and a friend. Followed David on FB and watched the progress of the Lazy Square. My heart goes out to you Jill and Family. Love Kirie

Kia Ora Jill and whanau - I am really sad to hear the news about David passing away.
He was a part of my team at RBNZ, and when he finished I know he was really looking forward to settling in and enjoying the new home and getting the gardens and land developed. My condolences and thoughts go out to you all.

A huge absence for my sister and a sadness for the rest of the family who came to love David for his care for our sister / sister in law / Aunty / cousin. Jill and Dave were such a close pair. It is truly sad and shocking that he was taken so soon and so suddenly. I will always have images of him in the garden, driving (cursing any fool driver who crossed his path in careless fashion) his gorgeous English accent and put downs of silly people on the tv. His smile when Jill was being funny. His find laugh at her humour. His passion for planet earth. His passion for justice. His humour. His gentle bear-like quality. He will be greatly missed. Valhalla!

Jill and family I was so terribly sorry to hear the sad news of David's passing. We worked together briefly a few years ago and I always enjoyed my meetings with David. I have followed your journey to finish the house and the 'field' with you were his happy place. Please let me know if there is anything I can do for you. Love Karen
