David Duckworth Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 18, 2025.
Seabrook Island - David William Duckworth, 82, of North Kingstown, RI, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 14, 2025.

Born April 28, 1943 in Cranston, RI to Edith Ellen Duckworth (née Lindquist) and William Henry Duckworth of Pawtucket, RI. He graduated from Pawtucket West High School in 1962, where he was a member of the swim team.

In the early 60's, he and his family moved to Hebron, NH, where they owned and operated Sleepy Hollow Cottages at the northern most end of Newfound Lake. Dave remained active in the Sleepy Hollow Village Association through 2024 and cultivated life long friendships with generational cottage owners. He served honorably in the New Hampshire National Guard from 1963-1969.

A member of the Pasquaney Water Ski Club on Newfound Lake, he skied passionately for years. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, snowmobiling and fishing. As an accomplished fisherman, he spent many early mornings on the lake with his favorite canine companions, Breanna and Max. They were witness to catching some of Newfound Lake's largest fish. With his love and best friend of 43 years, Deborah Greene, they loved Sunday antiquing, collecting postcards, spending time together lakeside as well as sharing dinners out at new restaurants.

David worked as a machinist at Esty Machine & Tool in Bristol, NH (1963-1970) and Insulfab Plastics in Franklin, NH (1970-1973) moving to North Kingstown, RI, in 1973, he worked at Northern Telecom (1973-1983), Webbing Industries (1983-1986), and GTech Corporation until retiring in 2013. Dave continued to foster friendships with many of his coworkers throughout his retirement.

In September 2025, he moved to Seabrook Island, SC, to live with his son and family and spend time with his grandchildren.

Survived by his son Steven Duckworth and wife Lisa, grandchildren Kylie and Bennett; stepson Mark Greene and wife Wendy, grandchildren Trinity and Addison; stepson Brian Greene wife Terry, grandchild Tyler.

In keeping with David's wishes, there will be no public services. Ashes will be scattered privately by the family.

To David´s family, I would like to express my most sincere condolences. Dave started working at Gtech shortly after I had been hired there. I worked closely with him until he retired. Dave was an extremely talented machinist making prototype parts to aid in the development of our products.
God Bless.
