David B. Eastham

David B. Eastham, age 89, passed away on April 23rd in Albuquerque, N.M. He served in the Navy, Army, and Air Force, and then became a farmer and teacher. He was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. In 1940 he joined the Naval Reserves and was called to active duty in early 1941. Since he wanted to fly airplanes, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in late 1941. He served in the South Pacific where he piloted a P-47 fighter. The US Army released him from active duty in 1945, and the US Air Force recalled him in 1949. While in the Air Force he piloted a B-47 bomber. He retired a major from the Air Force in 1964, and then moved to Roswell, N.M. where he became a farmer. When an old injury flared up in 1972, he moved back to Oregon where he completed his Masters Degree at Oregon State University, and afterwards taught accounting. He finally retired and moved to Albuquerque in 1999. Dave is survived by his wife Laurene Eastham; his four children, Robert Eastham, Linda Harris, David L. Eastham, and Dan Eastham; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. Dave will be interned at Sunset Memorial Park (924 Menaul Blvd. NE.) during a private ceremony on April 27th.
