David's intellectual bounty had impact far beyond the national sphere. I was witness to his considerable influence on the success of public administration projects in the Ukraine and Russia. His generosity in sharing knowledge with our teams will have lasting effects on the future of our public service. He was our "Yoda" and we will all miss him.

I knew him as Professor Elder. Class of 04. He knew all of his students. He knew how to teach them, how to make politics accessible. The celebration of his life today was warm and happy. Was an honour to be there.

Dear Pat, it was sad to hear of David's passing. The two of you have had many enjoyable years and together we even had many good times at the "office". David will be missed by his many friends.

Hello Patricia,

After being out of touch for a while, this was very sad news indeed to receive about a man you loved deeply and a wonderful testament to how much he has given. Warmest thoughts to you and your family.

Dear Pat,
David and I got to know one another when we worked on economic summit and related issues during the mid to late 80s. His personal and professional qualities really stood out. I feel very sad indeed that he has been taken from us much too early.
With warm sympathy,
John Coleman

David was the Don of Ryerson House at Victoria College when I lived there in the mid 60s. Our paths never crossed again despite both our careers in international relations. Pity, as I'm sure we'd have had much to talk about. My condolences to his family. We shared many good moments despite the differences between our French and Engineering studies

Gentil, aimable fin et raffiné c'était toujours un plaisir de le rencontrer; il traitait tout le monde quelque fut son rang, avec équanimité, une exquise courtoisie et une ouverture jamais prise en défaut.
