I knew David casually at The University of Illinois (1976). Very sorry to hear of his passing.

We are so deeply saddened to learn of David's passing. What a loving and fitting tribute to a born teacher who touched so many lives. Our deepest sympathies to Phlis, Gwyn, and Megan.

David (Dr. Emigh) was my favorite professor when I attended QVCC in the 1990's. His love of teaching and inspiration enlightened me and encouraged me to continue my education. I can still remember the "class trip" we took to Boston to visit the Computer museum. He encouraged me to bring my then 5 year old son, which wasn't exactly a practice then. Another memory is going to QVCC at night and looking at the stars through several telescopes that he had set up. My condolences to the family, you lost a true teacher who has probably touched many lives.

I never met David but as someone who reads the obituaries everyday, I have to tell you this is one of the most beautiful & loving tributes I’ve ever read. The writer obviously knew him very well & loved him deeply. It makes me wish I had known him. God bless.

I knew David in the best way someone can know a man, I knew his family. I knew this daughters as children in elementary school and his wife in Woodstock as their mother. David and I only spoke on occasion, having known his children and their mother I knew him well. Peace to David and to Gwyn, Megan, and Phyllis.

My condolences to the family. What a remarkable human. I was fortunate enough to take an astronomy class that was taught by David. He was so knowledgeable and had such passion for the stars and the cosmos. One of the best classes I ever took. God bless.

Brilliant mind and nice guy. David had taught several classes I have taken, almost 20 yrs ago now. I'm sure he has touched so many young minds. He definitely had a passion for teaching science, he was a standout professor. I will always have memories of meeting for class / study lunches at the Vanilla Bean cafe for our physics lessons.
