David Ernest was born in Altoona, Pa. He married Shirley Pearson July 13, 1957. In 1958 he graduated Penn State Univ, with a BS in Business Administration. He marched in the Blue Band, playing the trumpet. He later earned a BA in Law.David started his career in Contracts and Grants for the Business Machines Division of the Singer Corporation. In 1966, Singer transferred him to Friden, a CA subsidiary. He left Friden with 4 colleagues and started Regitel Corporation where they invented the first point of sale cash register with automatic inventory tracking. One of their registers is part of the Smithsonian collection. Leaving Regitel to venture out on his own as a business consultant, he had an illustrious career which included travel throughout the US and abroad. He was proud of his time as an assistant coach, coach, manager and President of San Ramon Little League. He was Coach Geezer to anyone needing him. Elevating his passion of Little League, Baseball (Go A'S) and community involvement, David went on to serve as Commissioner for the San Ramon Park and Community Services for 12 years. Once his coaching days and committee commitments ended, he turned his passion to following and supporting his great grandchildren in the Mountain Ridge Little League program in fabulous Las Vegas, NV.A member of the Pacific Locomotive Association in Sunol, he became very active in retirement when he became Manager of the Gift Shop. All the family experienced the annual Train of Lights throughout the years.During his lifetime he enjoyed racing in rally tournaments, annual trips to Disneyland, San Ramon's wind festival and concerts in the park, watching college football (Go Nittany Lions) and playing canasta with Shirley. He was an avid reader, history buff and amateur genealogy sleuth.David passed away peacefully at home with many family members present and the A's game on the TV. He was preceded into death by his wife Shirley.He is survived by his sister, Martha Jane Blair and a trove of nieces and nephews. His two daughters, Cynthia Sylvester (David) and Karen Lynch (Matthew). He was a respected Grandpa, or Grandpa Geezer, of five, (Steven Ernest, Mike, Tom, Andy (Candi) and Megan Lynch (Spencer) James). David was The Gman to three great-grandchildren (Sawyer Thomas "Soy-Soy", Hunter Graham "Goose", and Taylor "Tot" Sierra Lynch). He was proud to follow the career and life of exchange student Tiina Heikenheimo (Antii) from Helsinki, Finland.There will be a memorial service at 3pm, Sunday, Nov 6, 2022 at the San Ramon Community Center located at 12501 Alcosta Blvd. San Ramon, CA 94583.
